Forum Avatars

Not sure where this one belonged, so I picked here. Sorry if this is wrong, so please redirect me.

So yesterday, I just learned about what forum Avatars are, from reading another post, and the person was pissed about size limits and etc.....

So now, I know what screen avatars are, and the LVA wants them to be in size
no larger than 120 * 120.

OK, I got that. So I have been right clicking, then properties on people's avatars to see the size, and generally they are around this size.

Cool, I want to add one to my account, but my question is......

A few members have animated avatars.....

The picture space is still in the 120 * 120 range, but they are animated ones, and so, the data space being used is greater than a still frame avatar.....

Does anyone know what the data limit of an avatar is here?

To say it another way...

LVA wants the picture avatar to be limited to no larger than 120 * 120, but what about its data capacity for animated ones?

Thanks...

BYW.

Does anyone know how often you can change your avatar? I see some very funny ones, and if possible, I would like to change mine on a once a week basis, if possible.

This is different..

I just found out the answer to my own question.

I was probing around my forum profile account info, and it states...

Size limits are

120 *120 ..... 15kb

So that means I cannot do the funny cat swinging his ass around, for it is 20K.

But..... I tried anyways, thinking LVA would say too much. But LVA does not recognize the file format I have it in from the internet, so it will not upload at all.
So what, or how do I download these adavtars to my pc, in a format that LVA accepts uploads to?
Right Click your mouse over the picture,

click save as....

that will save it to your HD, note where you save it to.

Then you will need to use some software to save it to and acceptable format.

here is a good FREE picture editing software you can crop, resize, etc with:

https://www.irfanview.com/

Blade, I think that is the trick, for I saved as you said, easy enough to do, but upload is not accepted.

So it is as you state above.

"""""""Then you will need to use some software to save it to and acceptable format."""""""

The hard part about IT has alwasy been trying to figure out what SW is used to slove a problem
WITHOUT corrupting anything else.

As far as what I use here with my own PC, I'm game for almost anything, it is not a big deal.....

Worse case, I corrupt my system, I know how to look for key trackers and hackers, and I just reload an entire new backup, from any point in time I choose.

I use total HD memory points to external... not the crap that comes from MS...

Save it as a *.jpg file, then upload that photo to a free online hosting site like: photobucket.com or imgur.com Then copy the link to that host site and paste it on your LVA Profile page in the appropriate place.

That sounds just like the way I left Info Tech years ago, and goodbye...

Upload, then swivel, then copy, then Crop, then link, shift ass, then paste...

Blade, this is not in any means an attack on you.

In fact, I am very grateful for your directions, and I have saved it to hard copy,
when I get the nerve to try it for real.

But I just had to laugh, for I remember that any IT support function involved so many
steps, that management never could understand why it would take so long.

It is just an Avatar, it is a 2 seconder, why is your work ticket saying 10 Minutes??

God, I am soo happy to be away from that insanity..
