The Free Market Sucks at Health Care

What does it get us? Crummier care that's far too expensive.

Chilly - your initial post
This might require a perspective many are incapable of considering: If, as a society, we possess the talent, the technology and the chemistry to ease pain and extend human life, and we choose to market this as a commodity to those who can afford to pay for it ... we can't really call ourselves civilized.

Health care cannot be compared to anything else. It is as specific and as priceless as one more breath of life.

Frank brings out a very point & the real issue in health care, We do have the ability to do this but whether individuals or the govt have the financial resources to this is the question

A poll by the Harvard School of Public Health and The Boston Globe found that 63 percent of the residents supported the state reforms, up 10 percentage points from 2009. Only 21 percent opposed it. Support varied by party, with 77 percent of Democrats, 60 percent of independents and 40 percent of Republicans supporting the law.

Hey, you forgot to mention the wait times in Mass doubled since their healthcare took place. Before patients could see their MD within 30 day's now it's 60 days. Also, their wait time for the ER has more than doubled.

BO just wants to brink this entire country to a wonderful socialism society. US, the next Greece.

Its actually just a question of priorities. Some people prioritize WMD hunts, missille shields, and lower taxes for the wealthiest individuals.....other people prioritize a better healthcare system. You just have to figure out what your priorities are and vote accordingly.

Your right PJ, some people favor letting extremist kill our people, creating policies that only benefit the political butt kissers and those who don't want to work.

The next step for the redistribution of wealthers, take all the 'A's students receive and lower them to 'B's and give the other scores to bring the people with 'C's up to 'B's. That is their idea of a fair system.
Its actually just a question of priorities. Some people prioritize WMD hunts, missille shields, - You don't think defending the country against people trying to kill us is a good idea? According to the constitution that is one of it's responsibilities, not health care

and lower taxes for the wealthiest individuals - As I have pointed out before we could tax the top 2% of the country at a 100% rate and still have a several hundred billion deficit

other people prioritize a better healthcare system. - such as Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Iceland & Greece (known as the PIIIGS). Have you noticed that their govt's are bankrupt may default due to their social spending?

You just have to figure out what your priorities are and vote accordingly - new data shows that the unfunded deficit of the govt is now $60,000 billion. Now is not the time to spend more money

Like I said ....priorities. There is more than one path to balance the budget. Your idea is to take it out on the backs of working middle class people and the entitlements they paid into their whole lives.

The other plan is to stop the unfunded wars and the unreconciled Bush Tax Cuts.

Read the polls of Paul Ryan's vision for AMerica to see which plan is more in tune with AMerica.

Much like bernie madoff the govt stole the money & much like like madoff the money is sadly gone. To minimize the long term damage the govt has to phase itself out of the pension and health care business

Money was stolen from the entitlement programs by unregulated corporations and unreconciled tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. So, of course, the fair solution is to further punish the recipients of those entitlements to the benefit of the same people who robbed them.
