Freezing Ice Storm now?!? Gees

LOL Pam,
Glee rocks.

NYC reports 6,000 w/o electricity but maybe it was 60K--- the heavy ice brings down powerlines fast.

It can always be worst-- I skated to work- never seen the roads and sidewalk more treacherous.
Absolutely no purchase at all, ICE everywhere. Slippery as all get-out.

gave up and walked on the slushy road to subway hoping my bright pink umbrella might be noticed by passing cars and I didn't get hit- traffic was light at 7am in Brooklyn.
UnGodly commute
jjjj21: "layering" is dressing in layers for added warmth.

I can totally sympathize/relate to all you folks who are the recipients of this huge storm, but I'm SO relieved that we are not getting it for once. We usually do. The swath of storm in our state (WI) is in the central and southern part and I live in the "northwoods". For once, we and the "Yoopers" (people from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (the "UP") will luck out.

Stay safe you guys!!!
It actually went down to the upper 20's in Las Vegas last night, however it will be back into the 60's by the weekend. My sympathies to you Midwest and East Coast people. Stay warm.

Larry from Las Vegas, NV
My daughter sent me pictures of the snowdrifts that go halfway up her garage door (in Deerfield, IL). I'm very glad to be here in Vegas, LOL.

Larry and Sue,
You both did "your time" in the east- You both relocated, you deserve your fair weather.
The Suckification Factor here this year is Ginormous

All we can do is wait & hope for a long wonderful Spring
Live from Eastern Iowa-
Got up, the garage door wouldn't open since the high winds mounded snow up against it. Shoveled the door free enough to open, to pack our big 4WD Toyota out into the snow drift- which got it stuck, unlimbered my least favorite tool (snow blower) and managed to clear a path. Got the Toyota free and drove about ten miles an hour into work.
I remember driving this speed in Pasadena however that was due to traffic.
I had already told my staff to prepare so each site was functional this morning (hospital laboratories) thanks to the fine people that work for me.
Sonya calls shortly thereafter to report- no heat.
Arghhh!
Come home and tinker- find that the pipe that feeds fresh air to the gas furnace is buried in a drift near the house about six feet high- clear that, restart furnace- blessed heat comes up through the vents.
In two days we leave for Puerto Vallarta Mexico for a week on the beach- is it too early for a margarita?

Sprat8, just kidding about the layering.

I was born in Philadelphia, Pa.

It gets cold there.

However, here in good old Santa Monica, it's going to be 65 today and mid-70's by Friday.

My wife gets to tell me every time she sees the news about the cold weather-related problems
back East, "How come they don't come out here?"

This is my chance to play the straight guy and say, "Search me."
How true-- I think that about our homeless population..

If I was homeless i would be in Vegas or San Diego. or St. Bart's in a NY minute, certainly not here.

I have 4 fur coats-- where does the wife wear hers, jjjj21?

I guess wherever it gets cold.

Cruises, Rancho Mirage because it's been getting pretty cold down there.

She attended the awards the other night solo and wore it at a gathering later.
Got to see 2 co-stars holding hands and being VERY friendly. Both are married,
just not to each other. LOL

I heard that the ground hog didn't see his shadow. So that means not six more weeks of winter. Could of fooled me here in NH where we just picked up another foot of snow between yesterday and today.
