Production is up on old fields due to improved efficiency and drilling on lands not controlled by the federal govt (North Dakota, Marcellus Shales Field for example). Where the feds control the land permits are down.

In any case I predict the passed bill will include

1 - extension of unemployment
2 - extension of payroll tax cut; but not the low rates as proposed
3 - teacher & other state employee jobs - DOA
4 - Infrastruture spending - DOA
5- business tax credits - a compromise

"extension of unemployment" - paying people to not work or seek employment. In other words, those of us who work and pay taxes are still going to financially support the lazy system abusers. Wrong, just wrong.

After touring the facility of WestStar Precision, Obama said in a speech at North Carolina State University that the small business -- headquartered in Apex, N.C., a Raleigh suburb -- would benefit from the $450 billion jobs plan

"What they do is what a lot of companies in the Research Triangle do so well," he said. "They hire smart people; they give them the best technology; they create something of lasting value."

"And that's how this country built a strong and growing economy and a strong expanding middle class. That's our history. That's what we got to get back to," Obama said to roaring applause.

The only problem is that the jobs are located in Costa Rica; but the company owner is a democrat who has contributed to the owebama campaign
