Has the LVA board lost a little interest

I'd also recommend lvadvice.com for a much smoother running bb. Many of the people from this board have migrated over there.
Many good answers above. I think that the older members have pretty much talked themselves out concerning new things to do and descriptions of hotels and buffets, etc. How many times do you need to describe the hotel rooms at a particular property? For whatever reasons, the LVA is not getting many new members, at least not many that participate here. That may be a function of the speed or just a generational rotation to facebook or twitter, or some other hot spot of the moment. I'm probably here for life, but my sentiment seems to be in the minority. Also the younger visitors to LV can't seem to be bothered with looking for bargains - apparently the economy hasn't bothered them that much. I just had a client return from a week in LV (two day conference and five days on his own with his wife). I let him read the previous month's LVA and told him about the coupon book. When he returned, I asked him about his trip. He and his wife never ventured outside of Harrah's, Flamingo and the Quad the entire trip!! Man that's boring. The proliferation of casinos across the country may also be responsible for the waning interest.

I forgot to mention that I don't know why we need a vegas for free board. Seems like a contradiction.
See if this explains it -

Why was my post deleted.

It was a ridiculous question. If you don't like what's going on here or don't trust what we're telling you, then you shouldn't be here.

oldvegas

I thought it was a legitimate question. I meant no disrespect. But with your answer with that attitude you might not be there.

anthony
OK. The answer is no. If you discontinue your membership we will not email you when the website upgrade is installed. Sheesh.

Thank You

Wow. Just wow. I've never seen a paying customer of a business treated this way. LVA isn't the only Las Vegas site. I've never seen an Administrator at a free site be this rude, pompous, and dismissive. And a paying customer gets treated like this?

Personally...I get great information from other members, and I like the MRB. But I'm not sure I can send money to a business whose principals act like this.

You have no way of knowing what his 1st post was maybe it was rude.

mattbob77

Actually I saw his first post. Even if I hadn't, the responses above are, IMO, uncalled for.

His first post commented on the failure of the site to live up to it's promises - someone connected with the site may have found it rude - but it did reflect the frustrations of many members who are seriously considering whether or not to renew.

anthony

I'm sorry, but part of membership isn't that you get to ask any question that you want and necessarily get an answer, or dictate what will be done and in what time frame. If you think it should, then this isn't the program for you, which is the point I made. I simply deleted the orignal question as inappropriate, but oldvegas didn't want to leave it at that. I responded. No one was being rude on either side. You get what you pay for and more for $50. If you don't feel you do, then you won't remain a customer. That's how it works everywhere. This is surprising to you?

Once the speed is fixed, I think it is worth 50 bucks. No doubt.

An observation- As stated, the fix for the ongoing issue for this site apparently is not an easy one. There are those who will find patience difficult until this site meets everyone's expectations. In today's culture of instant gratification there will always be those who are never satisfied. Anthony has stated, for those who can comprehend, that some people have no idea of the difficulties that Anthony has encountered while trying to fix the problem. Even though I have been frustrated at times with the aforementioned issue, I remind myself that the information that I receive from this website far outweighs the intermittent problems we encounter. My advice is enjoy what you do have and have the patience required till this website is working like everyone would like for it to work.

Anthony, if your comment is directed to me...what's surprising is that a business wouldn't be polite to a paying customer asking a question, even if the business thinks it's "ridiculous". I didn't see anything in the original post in which old vegas was trying to "dictate the answer" or "dictate what will be done". (Maybe I missed later comments; I wouldn't know because the post was deleted.)

But this exchange reminds of your reaction to criticisms in the recent past of changes to the MRB; it appears that it's not enough for you to answer a question and then let the OP comment on how they feel about it. You seem to feel the need tohave the last word or belittle the poster and conclude with your "take it or leave it" comments. My impression is that questions about delays in the new site are touching a nerve, but obviously you're the only one that knows that.

So, yeah. I'm surprised a business would take this approach with a paying customer.

I read your initial post. It seemed to be legitimate question. If the forums were going to be improved in the near future? This may lead as to whether or not you would decide to renew. Seemed fair enough. You are a long time member. You do not post a lot so it was a concern for you. Well the rude response you got seemed totally uncalled for. It is not our site but a little respect for the paid members would seem proper.

Aha, and not so faraway at that.

Nice summary tony, and that doesn't take into account the emails that some of us have received basically telling us to shut up or get banned. Customer service? Really?
So I'm hearing lvadvice and vegasmessageboard are currently more popular and informative sites? Agreed that this form has become extremely dull!
Communication and networking on the internet has evolved. It is not what it once was. These boards were initiated in a world with no Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Las Vegas podcasts and when communication between resorts and customers was conducted primarily with direct mail and telephones. That world is gone.

I've been around since the original format, and I will admit that I miss the old energy and enthusiasm. But, I often miss my own energy and enthusiasm. What are you gonna do?

At any rate, I can't complain. My membership expired almost two years ago and I'm still able to ha...

I think people are waiting for the LVA upgrade to be finished
And waiting and waiting and waiting and.........
I had left this site for a couple of years and just returned. I am stunned by the lack of activity.
