Hawaii is a go and thank you!!

Made deposit for trip in Feburary. 1st stop is Oahu (Hilton Waikiki Beach for 3 days). 2nd stop is Kauai (Courtyard by Marriott Kauai at Coconut Beach for 3 days). 3rd and last stop is Maui (Royal Lahaina Resort for 4 days). A lot cheaper price than the cruise ship. Rental car for Kauai & Maui. Travel agent dosen't believe we would need a car for Oahu. Plus I think we would be somewhat tired after plane trip upon arrival. Leaving from Detroit(6:30AM) to Atlanta to Oahu(4:00PM). Thats the earliest flight I see coming in to Hawaii.

Thanks for all your input to ken2v, tennis_bum, MisssL777, Calif.Loves.Vegas, and hoops2. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated. Who would have thunk getting great advice on Hawaii from Las Vegas Advisor. DJH & PJH

Just a bit north of you in Kapaa (Kauai) at Outrigger Waipouli Resort, there's an outstanding restaurant: Oasis on the Beach. And after you get your car in Maui, find Broke Da Mouth Cookie Co. on Alamaha Street, right near the airport. Fantastic bakery. The guys in the shop seem to have the munchies and perma-grins all the time!!!

If I remember correctly from my visits, unless things have changed, I think that Oahu had a decent enough bus system and you can walk to some places as well.

David, if this didn't come up elsewhere ... cars are dirt cheap in Hawaii.

Ken, I'm going in August and the the cars are not "dirt cheap". A week on Hawaii is over $300 for a FS and the same goes for a week on Maui. Do you have a secret way to get a good deal?

I go through a friend who is a travel agent. Cars are about 20-25 bucks/day.

For cars on this trip, being taken care of thru travel agent. Being we have never been there before, I like someone else setting it all up. Almost 30 years ago going to Las Vegas for the first time, went thru tour company. Only took once, then made all arrangements for Las Vegas ourselves the rest of the time. DJH
