I see I got a double post so I'm changing this one to another line of thought. We went to see John Waters at our lovely little Englert Theater in Iowa City tonight. It was such a wonderful performance! I would highly recommend going too see his little "vaudeville type" show (sort of a lecture on his films, his viewpoint, and very funny observations) if you get an opportunity. His timing is phenomenal--better than any stand-up comedian I have ever seen live.
And a funny sidelight--we also had dinner next to John Waters and his party. We went to the Motley Cow--a great little restaurant in Iowa City. Chris and Mike, our co-workers who had gotten tickets with us, both stood us up, but January and I had a great time, had a few drinks and excellent dinner, and had our celebri-phile satisfaction fulfilled. And it's pretty funny that Chris missed out on our "brush with greatness" at dinner because he is the biggest celebrity worshipper of any of us!
