How to tell you've left So Cal and moved (temporarily) into an apartment

Ken, we lived in SB for awhile and So. Orygun for 10 years. I think you really are going to find a whole new life up there. I know that route well by the way.
Do you like Pinots? I hope so.
So what town are you living near now? I liked Ventura when I visited there. It seemed close enough to the city to get to that kind of stuff if you need it - but also far enough away to get away from the overcrowding of the LA burbs..
Congrats (again), Ken, on your move!!!

Gee, Central Cal! That's a big change of pace!

Great area to live!!

I'm guessing you can still write there, right?

So have you climbed atop the big rock yet at Morro Bay?

Hey, if you are looking for Mayberry
with tourists there's always Cambria, USA

Done a lot of years south o' the San Gabs/San Berdoos. I'll miss being close to the Coachella Valley and west LA area, but other than that we're done with it.

Think we're heading the right direction and would be happy coastal or inland anywhere from Sta Barbara to Paso. I think Mammoth would be fun, too, or Gold Country.

But long range, my gut still tells me Bend or Seattle, maybe southern Oregon, might hook us (and for me again).

P.S. Speaking of the "45," I'm doing a La Quinta piece for Westways.

Yeah, I have heard that the 91 can be a big pain. I'm almost never on that route.
As for the 210 and 118, I know them both pretty well and many times take the 210 to the 15 when I'm going to LV from LA. And at least with the 210/118/23/101/1 route, that will get you nicely away from the Los Angeles area.

Well at least up where you are now, this will certainly put you be closer to Wine Country and SF (if you want a little excitement or class).

I have some cousins who have lived in Santa Maria for many, many years and I know that they love it out there.

And so yes, this definitely sounds like a good move for you and I wish you the best on finding a nice house to settle into!

And I'll definitely keep my eyes open for the piece in Westways about La Quinta. I do like the Palm Desert/Indian Wells/La Quinta area.
