I have a Car question for the mechanically inclined.

I drive a 2006 VW Beetle TDI with over 150K I have put on it. I enjoy this car and hop to put a lot more miles on it.....As of latey I have some bussing and rattling that is not from an accident......One buzz is in the trunk and I think it might be an adhesive that might be missing from some of the Plastic housing that supports the plastic around the rim of the trunk on the inside also am getting a buzzing from the armrest........It is pretty annoying........I was wondering of a spray of some type such as Silicone might fix this issue. I am a good detective and have traced down the location of the buzzing.......In a separate issue my sensor for the handbrake has gone out and I get the break light going on thee dashboard and a bell ringing. This is intermittent but becoming more frequent.......I am hoping that it is one of the less expensive sensors vs one of the costly ones. I have a good mechanic who gets the job done right ....One of the sensors is pricey for the hand brake and one is not.......I like the shape and style of my beetle vs the newer ones plus the lower yearly registration and insurance for my older car.........If I were to get a new car it would probably be another and my 3rd VW Beetle......I like the TDI and when I got my car gas was 10 cents per galless than the regular gas. Now they charge more for diesel fuel I would not be adverse to placing another 150 k on my Beetle. I appreciate any suggestions. To Clarify......I want to figure out how to fix the bussing on my own and leave my mechanic and the expense out of the picture if possible........................My Handbrake is functioning well it is the sensor that has gone bad......One sensor is a $25.00 part and the other sensor can be costly.............in the hundreds......I would be happy to just shut of the sensor but it does not work that way........................

Well, there ya go. Especially about the brake lights. Nothing to fool around with.
The buzzes could be (though probably not) related to a brake issue.

He will explain what is wrong, what needs doing, how much, etc. Then you can decide. They don't do any work until you say so. I'm sure you know this.

Your car isn't that old and the milage is relatively minimal.

But one thing about keeping older cars (which I do!), you miss the benefit of new features added over the years. Do some window shopping. Do the new Beetles have new/upgraded features that might add to your driving safety and pleasure? If not, spend the money to have yours repaired.
Questions of this sort are common over at the VWVortex forums. Here's a link to their New Beetle forum. You might get better results there.
