LVA Book Club, March 2011

I loved the word "Half-Broke Horses" heroine used for the bigamist she was married to: Crumb-Bum.
I remember my mom or grandma using that phrase...
that's as blue as it got

Still reading Ken Folliets Pillars of the Earth, more than 1/2 way thru. Really digging it
She was one who didn't take any guff.
Asperger's will become a part of the Autism Spectrum disorders in the new DSM, so Jodi Picoult will already be out of date.

My classes at school are currently reading The Miracle Life of Edgar Mint (Udall) and The Tortilla Curtain (Boyle.) I am still plugging away through The Autobiography of Mark Twain. All good reads.

I just started a novel by an Irish author named Colm Toibin. The book is called "Brooklyn." Guess who I'll be sending it to when I'm done, LOL.

Connie, from what I've been told the DSM is moving towards something that Picoult suggests in her book: we all have a little Asperger's in us, but some have a lot.

I think some want to make autism part of a spectrum of normal. That's a mistaken, in my mind. There are tall people and short people, but there's something different (physically, in terms of height) about someone with dwarfism.

Sue, going to send it to Ken?
LOL
