Magazine subscription renewal

I recieved a renewal offer today, stating I'm due for renewal and to act on this offer before my subscription expires, I went and looked at last months magazine and noticed, I am paid up till July of 2016. What is it with these people !!

most magazine are on the brink of bankrupsty, that's what.
Postage prices, Kindles, Nooks, Internet and a increasing younger set who don't touch paper pages..

Seems like everybody tries to sell subscriptions for those dinosaurs. And getting sneaky: at Steinmart we noticed after swiping a debit card if you hit "Accept" it was for 3-months of 3 free magazines followed by automatic charge to your card, INSTEAD of Accepting the charge for the crap you are purchasing.

A few magazines make a ton of money; many breakeven and the balance lose a pile. Overall the industry makes a lttle bit of money.

Print advertising is migrating to digital in all its forms while tv spending is flat.

Magazine production costs continue to increase as well as acquisition costs; meanwhile circ revenue is stagnant.

Tablets could be a savior as production costs are much lower. However many magazines still don't translate well to present day tablets

A lot of time when your subscription "expires", you continue to get the mag for months.

I used to never re-new.

Now I never subscribe.

Hey Rick: let your LVA subscription expire and see if you can still get around the paid side iron curtain.

Only 18 days until it expires ......

I wish there was some sort of "WARNING" or something ....... like the mags do.

Don't re-up here, and all of a sudden you're a gonner.
