Mircowave ovens

a hunk of plastic fell off of mine- can't figure out where it came from.

since then, it takes longer to heat somethin' so i figure i SHOULD invest in a new one...this was 4 to 6 months ago and I shouldn't put of off anymore-
don't need anything fancy-- how much should I pay and what make do YOU like best??

Your opinion matters to me..

Pleaseandthankyou
It worries me if it's taking longer to heat. I would stop using. I'm worried about the metal seal broken.

Buying one: the issue is power. You probably don't need a powerful one. Think 1000 watts or less. I assume you don't need special features.

Brands: Know nothing about this.

Price: around $100. Around 1000 watts, name brand, you should be able to find one on special for less than $100. Maybe in the $70 to $80 range.

For example, on Amazon.com, you can get a lower power (800 watt) Sanyo (with turntable) for $71.
1000 watts will run closer to the $100.
I definitely wouldn't use it. We replaced ours with an "over the stove" one which is combined with an extraction unit - under $300.00. We would never go back to a countertop model - this one is really fast and we have more counter space.

I disagree with TB. Go for one a bit more powerful. I have a Panasonic 1300W microwave that I've had for years (bought it when I lived in Chicago), and I love it. One of the choices on it is "sensor reheat," which allows me to reheat something (like leftovers, for example) without having to think about how much time to set it on. It determines when the food is hot. It's a counter-top model.

I also have a GE Spacemaker XL1800 above my stove (built into the house), which I never use, because I like my Panasonic one better, lol.

I reheat only- oh and make popcorn.
Gotta have my popcorn...

thanks guys..
any and all other comments are welcome.
According to Sergei (My Brooklyn gay husband) I NEED a Blu Ray player more- but I'll get both soo/someday.
My Panasonic microwave has a "button" for popcorn.

I LOVE POPCORN !!!!!

Rock'n Rita bought some kind of microwave-bowl-thingy that she uses.

This way she can just buy just the bag/jar of kernels, which is not only cheaper but better for you than the flavored microwave bags with all the added crap.

I use that bowl-thingy too, but make my popcorn extra special. Oh !!!!

I add the butter-flavored cooking spray, then sprinkle a little onion and/or garlic powder, then mix in some grated parmesan cheese and finally salt.

I'll tell ya, it's THE BEST Cheese Popcorn, Ev-VAH !!!!!

I'm going to make a Big Bowl tonight.

There must be a company that makes a Microwave/Blu Ray player combination unit! In New Jersey we had a VCR that was also an electric can opener.

I agree with Sue. You need a countertop model, Not too heavy or too big,
but has a Reheat And Popcorn button!!!Shouldn't cost much either.
Microwaves don't cost much these days. hallelujah

Let's not overthink this! Keep it simple and inexpensive.
