Finally I have gotten into the movie groove.
Today I popped in to see The Tourist while my flat tire got fixed. I didn't expect much but enjoyed it--a nice little movie! But my favorite part was when I noticed that one of the British cops was the Chairman from Iron Chef America on the Food Network! No wonder he's been absent from filming the t.v. show so much lately!
I think my favorite film was True Grit. Though I thought Jeff Bridges played the same character he did in Crazy Heart. Well, I guess he killed more people in True Grit. But he does play that character exceptionally well!
Also saw 127 Hours and loved it over Thanksgiving. Then it left the theatres in Des Moines. It hasn't come to Iowa City at all yet, which seems really funny to me. I guess they mean to bring it in after the first of the year. (We have read the book with my senior English class for several years and it's such a compelling story, and really kind of an uplifting story for something that seems like it would be really depressing.
I took my niece to see The Black Swan. I always like a good ballerina movie. Noticed that the director of the ballet company looked awfully familiar and discovered that he was in Ocean's Twelve.
Finally, we saw Inception on pay per view at my brother's and liked that a lot. Really enjoyed the visuals f the dream sequences.
Has anyone seen The Fighter? That may be my next venture. Boxers always seem to make good movie subjects....
