My Alarm clock stopped working

I'm in my thirties and I use a clock that I got back when I was in fifth grade(as a gift at the VFW Christmas party). It still works so how. I guess I've been lucky.
I've got a Bose Wave clock radio.
It's very nice, but not worth the money (they run something like $300). I got it as a gift, so I'm not complaining.

These days, not only am I using the radio, but I'm playing my MP3 player through it.
....more like $450.00 but they were $599.99 at one time, T.B.

I envy a Bose-- had to dig around but I had the Dream machine cube Flip and I got together once back in 2005/2006- from AC. brand new.. it'll do!
I always wanted one of those alarms that you had to throw against the wall to turn off. They had one that had a snooze alarm feature so once you threw the alarm you were forced to get out of bed to turn off the snooze and since you were already up might as well stay up.

I never was a good riser and usually could sleep right thru an alarm. I grew up very close to the SAC B-52 bomber group at Wright Patterson AFB. Our house was in the flight path just about where they turned on the juice to gain altitude. During the era of the Cuban Missile crisis they ran nonstop missions. Once you learn to sleep thru B-52s not much will roust you.

One of the best statements made on these boards in some time!
Love it.

>>>>> I may have to rethink my comment after remembering a funny story from my past.

It is amazing what one can and cannot sleep through. My folks had some friends visiting for the night and when the SAC bombers flew over our house these Hoosiers flew out of bed thinking Armageddon was at hand. I woke up only because I heard conversation in the hallway which was my parents explaining that the shaking house and rattling windows was a part of keeping the world safe for democracy.

We later spent a night at the friend’s farm house in Indiana. We were kept awake all night by the hog farm located just across the road from their house. The farmer had installed automatic feeding devices that were spring loaded galvanized metal lids that covered the food trough. The swine had learned to attack the steel lids with their snout to get at their food and then let the lid slam shut. All freaking night this went on. At least the B – 52 bombers had the decency to almost nuke Russia before their noisy return. I did enjoy my bacon served for our Indiana farm breakfast that morning confident in the knowledge that one little piggy was not going to keep me awake the next visit.
ELVie winner, no debate. Dust off the award and get it engraved right now.

Berf, awesome story!
great story!

Back in Ohio, age 7,8,9... we lived in Westlake- close to NASA. (by the airport)
During summer we had sonic booms on a regular basis. You felt it in the dirt, the air itself.
we're the testing going at the speed of light?

I don't use anything to wake me up.

But, I'm retired.
