OK, here's an 80s song from an English band. It charted higher in the US (#7) than it did in the UK (#15):

The Salvation Army band played
And the children drank lemonade

Yep - I remember doing that!

Life in a Northern Town - Dream Academy

I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch

Famous song but maybe the least remembered line!

Canadian Eh?

Here is the first 3 lines to the second verse

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you

Performed by almost 200 artists - including Bono, Willie Nelson, Justin Timberlake, Bob Dylan, Allison Crowe, Leonard Cohen K.D. Lang

Rolling Stone has it in the top 500 songs of all time

I'll post the answer later tonight if nobody solves it

Sorry Guys - I didn't realize that this was such a hard one - huge all over the world but maybe not so much in the USA.

The song was Hallelujah. Written by, and originally performed by Leonard Cohen.

The original was written in the key of C Major and the beautiful chord changes gave way to this great verse -

I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah . . .

One of my favourite verses of all time.

As previously mentioned, close to 200 singers have performed it -
For my money - this relatively unknown did a version that stands up to her Superstar Peers -

I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do.

Anyone got a song?

Hi All,

I have one from 1969:

Call the sun in the dead of the night
And the sun gonna rise in the sky
The song was Hallelujah. Written by, and originally performed by Leonard Cohen.

The original was written in the key of C Major and the beautiful chord changes gave way to this great verse -

I have to be Leonard Cohens number one fan since he recorded.
This song has been in over-kill the last 3/5 years and I never want to hear it again
Katrina
Haitian relief
every American idol singer
Justin Timberlake
Susan boyle
even leonard twice in concert ....
OK OK it's the greatest song ever written

for my money after the first verse- everything eludes me:<;

rant over

Now,
back to Cyndee's new batch:
"Call the sun in the dead of the night
And the sun gonna rise in the sky"

Good Morning All,

It looks like hint time. So think two word title. The two words are only different by one letter.
The artist is working on a five decade career and has given us many hits recorded by him and others.

The next few lines:

Touch a man who can't walk upright
And that lame man, he gonna fly

See the sky in front of you
