gosh, folks

maybe Sue is around:

Hear the lonesome whiperwill,
He sounds too blue to fly
"I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry." Originally by Hank Williams. Terry Bradshaw (yes, the football player) also recorded it years later.

"Nobody wants to get drunk and get loud,
And ___ __ _____ _______ have settled down"
Clue to the artist -- are you ready for some country? Or football? LOL

I'm still here, checking in when I can, but I just haven't been able to guess any of the more recent ones.

I had to google yours, Sue. Sorry, I just wasn't into Country music much then.

I listened to it on YouTube, and I like the song. The singer is lamenting the fact that all of his friends have gotten older, and "Nobody wants to get drunk and get loud" anymore. Now that, I can relate to.

Anyway, I'm out.

Jim Brown?
someone named Bubba Jones? (That was a guess..)

Ferlon whats__-his ___name_?
Jim Nabors?
am I getting close yet..????
"am I getting close yet..????"

No. LOL

OK, I'll give it up. It's "All My Rowdy Friends," by Hank Williams, Jr.

Somebody else post something new ...
Here’s a new old one:

Don’t you know that it’s worth every treasure on Earth?

Edit: Come to think of it, 1954 is not very old.

That's "Young at Heart," by Frank Sinatra.

"They say that time
heals a broken heart"

That's I Can't Stop Loving You. The version I remember was a big hit for Ray Charles in the early 60s, although I think the song may have been recorded by someone else first. If so, I don't know by whom.

Thanks for the young at heart sentiment, Cyndee. Actually, I still feel pretty energetic. It's my darn friends who don't want to get drunk and loud anymore, heh, heh.

OK, 1955 here:

For it's true
You are my destiny

..I'm sensing platters
