Hi All,

So, this is still up. Let’s see if I can save it with some hints.
Besides the two hits I referred to, the song was covered by the Righteous Brothers and Billy Joel.
Carole King included it on her album called “Pearls” in 1980. She and Gerry Goffin wrote it.

More lines:
___, ____, I want you to know,
I'm gonna miss you so much if you go.
(Bye, bye, baby.)
And ___, ____, I tell you no lie,
Something deep inside of me's going to die.

Hey Girl.
I like the Billy Joel version but he wasn;t the original.
That was somebody Scott - can't rememb er his first name.

If that was close enough - I have a new one -

*************NEW*************

That's Hello, I Love You, by The Doors.

Next one, from 1966:

Now, when you're ill, you take a pill
When you're thirsty, drink your fill

(BTW, I recall the Freddie Scott version of Hey Girl. I'm sure that's the one from 1963. I don't remember a 1972 version that was a hit. Who did that, Cyndee?)

It was Donny Osmond, Jim. His version ranked one spot higher than the Freddie Scott one according to Wikipedia.

I don't recognize yours yet. But I'll think it over.

A few more lines of lyrics, and a hint:

Now, when you're ill, you take a pill
When you're thirsty, drink your fill
What you gonna do, oh yeah
When love gets a hold, a hold on you

The song was written by Motown's most successful songwriting team, and performed by Motown's most successful 60s girl group.

The Funk Brothers (Motown's studio musicians) sounded great in the background, and when I first heard this song, I thought it was going to be a #1 hit for sure. It topped out at #9. Shows you what I know.

Good Morning All,

I’m sorry Jim. I can guess the group and the writers. But I’m not getting the song. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I guess I haven’t had my Motown lately. That must be it.

Maybe Tony will weigh in on this.
don't know it either
but guessing one of the writers (duh) is Smokey Robinson and sung by Supremes
Definitely Supremes - I have the melody running trhrough my head - just waiting for the spark to go off

Hint: Maybe the singer should scratch it.

Is that “Love is like an itchin’ in my heart”?
...in WHERE ?!???!??
