Name the song the line is from Part II

A few more lines, and a hint or two:

I know a girl who's soft and sweet
She's so fine she can't be beat
Got everything that I desire
Sets the summer sun on fire

This one is a little bit...strange. As noted, it's from 1965. A press release at the time claimed that this musical trio consisted of brothers Giles, Miles, and Niles Strange, from Australia. Supposedly, they had become rich from their sheep farming business, and now had the time and financial wherewithal to start a band. It was all bogus. They were actually three guys from New York. One of them was Bob Feldman, who, six years later, would become the father of actor Corey Feldman.

Why the trio felt the need to create this elaborate hoax has never been made clear. This song peaked at #11 on the US charts, and also did well in Canada. Ironically, or perhaps deservedly, it failed to chart in Australia.

Edit: BTW, the "famous beat" to which I referred in my previous post is sometimes called the Bo Diddley beat.
Ooh, some 1960s Party Rock. I really needed more lines for that one. That’s “I want candy”.

1979 here:

You never see what you want to see
Forever playing to the gallery
I picked up a few things from Wikipedia for my hints.

This group was a British progressive rock band that released a series of top-selling albums in the 1970s and early 1980s. Their early music included ambitious concept albums, from which were drawn a number of hits.

The “up beat” sound of the record is a mix of piano and harmonica with their distinctive harmonies.
It seems to me the song is about someone being a legend in his own mind and that he is daydreaming as he avoids the realities of his life.

A few more lines:

Does it feel that your life's become
a catastrophe?
Oh, it has to be
for you to grow, boy.

Sorry , Cyn.

I was off on one of those silly political threads. Someday, I'll learn not to do that.

You know I love Supertramp. It's Take The Long Way Home. Thanks, pal.

Covered many times, this one first showed up in 1959:

If you don't give me the deed to your ranch
I'll saw you all in half

Political threads eh? You can learn a lot from those. Like what somebody’s opinion is and how they don’t want anyone else to have one of their own. I hope you got out with you skin.

Anyway, yours is a fun one. “Along came Jones” by the Coasters.

A little 80s:

Tommy used to work on the docks
Union’s been on strike
He’s down on his luck
its tough, so tough

I probably didn't, before it's all over. That's why I've gotta learn not to do that. I be a dummy sometimes.

Yours is Livin' On A Prayer, by Bon Jovi. I think that one came out not too long after I left NJ, and moved to TX.

Don't have any new lyrics at the moment, so I'll leave the floor open. I hope to be back later tonight.

Ok filling in for Jim,

Our guardian star lost all his glow the day that I lost you
"Mr Blue" done by Simply Red or Pink Floyd I think. Don't forget the followup...Yellow Submarine.

new lyrics

single line....aw it isn't so tough

I'm gonna let the music move me around
That’s “Will it go ‘round in circles” by Billy Preston.

Let’s try a show tune:

Can't believe it,
Unsteamed windows I can see through.
Might as well be in an igloo,
'Cause the heater doesn't work...
As good as you...

"Mr Blue" done by Simply Red or Pink Floyd I think"

LOL, good one, Phil. Actually, though, "Mr. Blue" was first done by the Fleetwoods in 1959. A big hit for them back then.
