Teen Angel
Leader of the Pack
Terry
Tell Laura I love her

What was it about that period? It wasn't a song if someone didn't die!

OK, I'm officially confused.

Is this what we're working on?

Maybe we need a hint or something.

really?
OK..

The lyrics of this FAMOUS existentialist song are written from the point of view of a person
who is disillusioned with events in life

but wait/ there's more::
Now that I think of it,
I do think it's quite incredible that this little piece of existentialism could have made it onto the white popular music charts of the late 1950s/60s. And it's especially amazing that it was written by songwriters who were known for such classic rock classics as "Yakety Yak," "Jailhouse Rock," "Hound Dog," and "Charlie Brown."
Hi All,

Disillusioned by events in life?
Leiber and Stoller?
It must be “Is that all there is?” Thanks for the hints, N’Cat.

From disillusion to an illusion that made #10 in 1967:

I see you standing in the alleys
and the hallways
Wait a second,
you're gone now

You did a nice job introducing that one, Cyndee (From disillusion to an illusion...), and it went right over my head. Consequently, I had a more difficult time with it than I should have.

It took forever to get that one to gel. It's Mirage, by Tommy James and the Shondells.

OK, back to 1960 here:

All day long they work so hard
'Til the sun is goin' down
Workin' on the highways and byways
And wearing...wearing a frown

I think I hear Sam Cooke singing “Chain Gang”. He made some good records, for sure.

This one line from 1993 should do (I think):

We'll forget the sun in his jealous sky

Very nice, and a very pretty song, Cyn. Fields Of Gold, by Sting.

I had another 60s song lined up, but decided that wouldn't do anymore. You sent me scurrying for 90s lyrics.

I liked this one:

You are my fire
The one desire
Believe, when I say

I think maybe me should have stuck with the 60s. Me be no good at that 90s stuff.

This is the 90s song I liked. Not too bad, I thought at the time. If an ad appears, you can skip it after just a few seconds.

OK, in the 60s, Westerns were big, not only in the movies, but sometimes in the songs, too. This one was both:

When the final showdown came at last
A lawbook was no good
