Name the song the line is from Part II

clcjim (ducking spitballs): Yep, Bryan Adams is the artist. Can anyone name the song?

OK, looks like that one isn't working. The song was Cuts Like A Knife.

Let's try this little 60s ditty:

Put on a ragged sweatshirt
I'll take you anywhere you want me to

Wow, I'm not doing very well tonight, lol. I'll leave a few more lines:

I'm gonna wake you up early
'Cause I'm gonna take a ride with you
We're goin' down to the Honda shop
I'll tell you what we're gonna do
Put on a ragged sweatshirt
I'll take you anywhere you want me to

First gear, it's all right
Second gear, I'll lean right
Third gear, hang on tight
Faster, it's all right

The song is from 1964.

I sure like that one, Jim. It’s “Little Honda” by the Beach Boys.

Don’t we do a lot of looking back on here? Just like this does:

Those old melodies
Still sound so good to me
As they melt the years away

Hi, Cyndee. Just wanted to say I saw your sister today.

Don't know your song. Sounds like something the Carpenters did, but I don't know.
Hi, Sue. She called me today to tell me how their trip was going and made sure to mention that you helped her replace her “Boarding Pass”. I was kind of jealous that she got to go to Aliante Station.

About the song, it is from The Carpenters 1973 album Now and Then. They used it to lead into a medley of several popular songs from the early 60s.

A few more lines:

All my best memories
come back clearly to me
Some can even make me cry

Another verse, and a hint or two:

Don't wish it away
Don't look at it like it's forever
Between you and me, I can honestly say
That things can only get better

And while I'm away
Dust out the demons inside
And it won't be long before you and me run
To the place in our hearts where we hide

The song features a guest harmonica solo by Stevie Wonder.

The singer is an Englishman who, at one point in his life, played a red piano in a colosseum. It must have gone well, because he'll soon be playing a million dollar piano in that same colosseum.

Sorry. I meant to make this a new post, rather than an edit of the old one. Now it looks like I didn't answer Cyndee's lyics first. I did. Honest. My mind is elsewhere this morning, I think.

I'm making this useless post so folks looking at the main page will be able to see I've added updated info.

Please see above post.

Hi All,

I like your idea about that theme song, Jim. “Yesterday Once More” has a special meaning to me. When I was in eighth grade, I joined the mixed chorus and one of our concerts included it for the intro to our oldies section. The few audience members that I could see appeared to be very moved when they heard us sing it. Now that I look back on that night, I think it would be kind of sweet to hear about 35 thirteen-year-olds sing that song.

For those who wish to hear the original, here’s a You Tube Link

Anyway, the latest is “I Guess That’s Why They Call It the Blues” by Elton John. Isn’t it funny how the music doesn’t sound so sad in that one, but the words do?

I’m stuck on 70s music today. This went to #15 on Billboard:

When we meet you always call me "baby" (baby)
How could it be that you forgot my name?

As far I can tell this artist was a one hit wonder. Wikipedia lists her accomplishments as many though. They say she starred in Broadway musicals, wrote a song for a Disney TV show, has been a vocal coach in Southern California and has worked in television commercials, radio, films and games, often as a voice actor.

The song is about breaking up with the idea that her romance meant more to her than it did to him.

I’ll add a few lines:

When we meet you always call me "baby" (baby)
How could it be that you forgot my name?
Before you go, be honest
I belonged to you and believed that you felt the same
