Name the song the line is from Part II

I’m not so sure about this one since nobody got it right away. Do many of you see plays much?
This one was made into a hit movie in the late 1970s. Unfortunately the soundtrack presented this song as an instrumental. So if you’ve only seen the movie, you didn’t get to hear the vocals on this song.

It’s about being left behind when his sweetheart got mad on a date and took off.

Well, Jim. I have never heard “Alone at a drive in movie” sung by Olivia Newton-John. Maybe she did it for a later album or something. However, I have heard it sung by young men on stage in local productions of “Grease”.

Yours is “Cry like a baby”. I think the group’s name was Box Tops, right?

It really surprises me to see this one still not guessed. I thought it was so easy. But I guess not. Here’s some more information

This song was a big hit by what was called a “Girl Group” at the time. It reached #2 in the U.S. and in several European countries.

I thought it was interesting to find that Wikipedia claims that Prince (under a pseudonym) wrote it and that it was his idea that this group should record it.

It starts out:
