Name the song the line is from Part II

Hello, everyone,

I'm still here. I ran into an unexpectedly busy day yesterday.

Sorry to hear about your stepfather, Tony. You have my sincere sympathy. Please drop us a line when you can to let us know how you're doing.

I think Tony's lyrics are from Without You. The hit version that I recall was sung by Harry Nilsson.

This is from 1982:

Got in the house like a pigeon from hell, ooooh

A few more lines of lyrics, and a few hints:

A circumstance beyond our control, ooooh
The phone, TV, and the news of the world
Got in the house like a pigeon from hell, ooooh
Threw sand in our eyes and descended like flies

This song was the band’s best-performing single in the US, reaching #5 in 1982. Another of the band’s singles appeared on this thread a few pages back.

Having formed in Hereford, England in 1978, the band was predominantly English, but the female lead singer was from Akron, Ohio, and had attended Kent State University before moving to London in 1973.

Thanks Jim - I'm still here for now.
That was the Pretenders - Chain Gang. Good band.

I'll leave it open

A track from a very popular 1967 album:

Vera, Chuck, and Dave

Hi All,

I’m back now. Those wind storms have me so far behind, I don’t know how I’ll catch up. But, I can’t resist answering this one. It’s “When I’m Sixty-Four” by The Beatles. Nice choice, Jim.

A big hit from 1983:

For forty days and forty nights
the law was on her side

Edited to correct the year. The song was release as a single the year following the album's release.

Well, that's a really good one. It be Billie Jean, by MJ

Let's see if one line is enough for this hit from 1975:

But it doesn't mean you ain't been on my mind

Sister Golden Hair,by America

How about:

Your my first cup of coffee
My last cup of tea

Hint:from the 50's also in American Grafitti

Bob

I guess that one is a stumper. It was from "Your So Fine" by the Falcons. The floor is open... Bob
Hi All,

I like “So Fine”, Bob. It’s too bad I didn’t recognize those lines. It’s a really good song.

We can visit 1978 here:

You don't have to prove to me that you're beautiful to strangers

That's a really nice one, like most everything she did. You Belong To Me, by Carly Simon.

This one is from the mid-80s:

You're all the things I've got to remember
You're shying away
I'll be coming for you anyway
