Name the song the line is from Part II

Hi All,

I do believe that Sue has posted lines from “Down On The Corner” by CCR.

If that’s it, we can work on this from 1960:

My daddy is sleepin' and mama ain't around

That be The Twist, by The Chubster...er, I mean, Mr. Checker.

Moving from 1960 all the way to 1961:

Oh, no, it can't be teardrops
For a man ain't supposed to cry

…So it must be “Rain Drops” by Dee Clark. That’s a really nice one, Jim.

I have some 1965 handy:

Girl, I'd marry you now if I were free
I wish it could be

I really like that one, Cyn. It's Bye, Bye, Baby by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.

OK, here's a little serving of 1962:

She broke my heart, I really showed it
Look at me now, you'd never know it

Lovers who wander,by Dion and the Belmonts

Here's one from the late 50's,

Yes, I need you,
Yes, I really need you,

Bob

Good one, Bob! That's Come Go With Me, by the Del Vikings.

OK, it was déjà vu all over again when this big 60s hit (#2 US and UK) for an English band became an even bigger 80s hit (#1 US and UK) for a different Englishman:

Anytime you want to, you can turn me onto
Anything you want to, anytime at all

Is that groovy kind of love ?

Yep, it is.

Whatcha got?

Thanks Jim,

New:
Passing trains that have no names

That's a good one! It's about the train they call the City Of New Orleans. I think several artists have recorded good versions. The one I remember best was done by Arlo Guthrie.

This was a #1 hit in 1960:

I want someone to say good morning and good night to
Someone I know that I will always have the right to
Where is this someone, somewhere, meant for me?
