Name the song the line is from Part II

I can see clearly now,by Johnny Nash.

Try this: Into the magic night, I softly say

Bob

Oops, Bob was first.

Bob, I'd know that one anywhere. It's In Dreams, by Roy O.

OK, here's a little slice of 1961:

I love how you think of me, without being told to

Is it titled "I love how you love me"? Don't know the singer.

Bob

You got it, Bob.

Do you have one handy?

(BTW, it was the Paris Sisters)

Looks like Bob may be taking a break, so I'll post something.

This song dates back to the 1920s. In late-1959/early-1960, an up-tempo rock version went to #3 on the charts in the US and UK:

Yeah, Creole babies with flashin' eyes
Softly whisper with tender sighs

I think the title is something like

Way Down Yonder in New Orleans.
That's it alright. It's your go, Ben.
New:
Leaving just your picture behind and I've kissed it a thousand times.

Good one, Ben! That would be Can't Help Myself by the Four Tops. I think it's sometimes called Sugarpie, Honeybunch as well.

This one is from 1965 (probably around the same time as the Four Tops song, give or take):

You keep on tellin' me those lies
Still goin' out with other guys
There'll come a day I'll be gone
Take my advice, won't be long

Adding the lyrics for the two-line chorus would be a dead giveaway, even with blank spaces for the title, so I’ll leave another verse instead:

You keep on tellin’ me those lies
Still goin’ out with other guys
There’ll come a day I’ll be gone
Take my advice, won’t be long

When that day comes, won’t be mad
Be free of you, but I’ll still be sad
In spite of your cheatin’, still love you so
I’ll be unhappy I let you go

The group was a garage band from Minneapolis-St. Paul. This was their only top-40 hit, so they were a one-hit wonder.

The song reached #12 nationally (Billboard Hot 100), and was featured in three movies. Most notably, it was selected for inclusion in the soundtrack album for the movie Good Morning, Vietnam. Fewer than half the songs played in the movie were selected for the album.

I’ll give this one up in the morning if it isn’t working.
