That’s such a nice one, Jim. It’s “Right Here Waiting” by Richard Marx. I like some of his stuff.

This one from 1972 still gets a lot of play and rightly so:

I know they say let it be
But it just don't work out that way

And now it's only fair that I should let you know
What you should know

That's "I Can't Live (if living is without you)" -- I'm not sure which part is the title, lol.

Don't know the year for this one ...

"Wish I could find a good book to live in"

Oh - Good one.
Melanie - What Have They Done To My Song Ma

Seventies

Although your phone you ignore
somehow I must explain

Well, it do sound familiar, Tony, but so far...

They used an odd unusual sentence structure (although your phone you ignore, rather than although you ignore your phone) in order to make something rhyme, I assume.

If I could figure out the rhyme, I could probably guess the song, right?

Darn.

See if this helps Jim -

I'm gonna camp by your steps
By the chance I'll get through to you
I've gotta the change your view baby
....................................................

Oh, you bet it helps. That's gotta be Until You Come Back To Me. I remember Aretha singing it. I'm thinking there may have been other versions. Thanks!

More 70s:

People gettin' ready for the news
Some are happy, some are sad

Let's see if a few additional lines will help:

Don't you feel it growin', day by day
People gettin' ready for the news
Some are happy, some are sad
Whoa, we gotta let the music play

See y'all in the AM.

I have the song somewhere in my collection but it is a cover by Sonny and Cher. Don't know who did the original.
I think that the song is called Listen To The Music.

Assuming that was correct - here is some Sixties

******** NEW ***********

It's the morning and just we two
I'll stay with you darling now
"Listen to the Music" was the Doobie Brothers.

Yours is "Sunshine of Your Love" by Cream.

Here's another from the 60's with Sunshine in the title..

"Cause I've made my mind up-you're going to be mine."

That would be Sunshine Superman, by Donovan. Good song!

More "sunshine" here. This one's been covered over 100 times, but the original dates from 1971:

Wonder this time where she's gone
Wonder if she's gonna stay
