Name the song the line is from Part II

I bemember that one, I do.

It's Free Fallin', by Tom Petty (and the Heartbreakers, or something like that).

Early 80s:

Neither could change their headstrong ways

That’s a good one. “Who’s cryin’ now?” by Journey

They called this Country Rock in 1977, but I don’t see it.

Hits you when it's too late
Hits you when you're down
Is it hint time?

According to Wikipedia, this Welsh artist had throat surgery in 1977 and was ordered to not speak for six weeks. She accidentally screamed out in frustration one day and the result was a change in her voice. She worried that it would end her career in singing to have a raspy voice. But to her surprise this song made it to #4 in the UK and #3 in the US charts.
This song was also recorded by Juice Newton and Ronnie Spector. Although theirs did not go as far up the charts.

More lines:

It's a fool's game
Nothing but a fools game
Standing in the cold rain
Feeling like a clown

"It's a Heartache" -- at least I think that's the name. I can't think of her name (the one with the raspy voice).

New lyrics --

"Walk yourself to the laundromat"

I believe that’s “Yakety Yak” by The Coasters

Just a few years later:

Well-a well-a well-a
heavenly angel
I want you for my girl
When I kissed
your sweet, sweet lips
I knew that you were
out of this world

BTW, "It's a heartache" was done by Bonnie Tyler.

When I first saw well-a, well-a, well-a, I was thinking something from Grease, Cyn, but I couldn't make it fit.

It took a while to sink in. It's Stairway To Heaven. No, not that one by Led Zep. It's the original Stairway To Heaven, by Neil Sedaka, from somewhere back in the 60s. Totally different song. Good one!

Early 70s:

With no loving in our souls
And no money in our coats
You can't say we're satisfied

That’s “Angie” by The Rolling Stones. I don’t care what some say, that’s a very good song. I love the arrangement on those strings.

I’m afraid this is another sad one:

Somewhere down the road
Maybe all those years
will find some meaning
I just can't think about it now,
or live them out anymore

Edit: Bad Paste

That's Stand Tall, by Burton Cummings, previously a member of the band Guess Who. It's one of my favorite songs ever. That guy could belt out a tune.

I think Stand Tall was mid-70s. So was this:

You're walking away, and they're talking behind you

There's a new kid in town (I don't wanna hear it) (Eagles/D. Henley)

...drinkin' his dinner from a paper sack
Really? no takers?!??
Here's more then...

Drivin' like a fool outta Hackensack
drinkin' his dinner from a paper sack
He says i gotta see a joker and I'll be right back
