New Travel Channel Series: Vegas Stripped

Check your listings for 10 p.m. Eastern on Travel Channel Wed. Feb 8th for two episodes of Vegas Stripped, a new mini series. These first two shows show the inner workings of South Point. About time we saw something new about Vegas on the TC!

Thanks - hoping that it shows in Canada
Finally some new Vegas programming on that channel.
Quick Review:

Okay show.
Didn't focus on the people as much as American Casino did (GVR when it first opened).
Instead, it focused more on the marketing efforts, one a Sex convention, the other a food truck promo.
Like with Auction hunters or Storage Wars, they put up the financials (very crude financials) at the end of the food truck episode.

There's definitely an effort to brand South Point as a "cowboy" locale -- funny, I've never had that sense going there.

Some of it seems heavily contrived, faked or re-inacted conversations. (I know. Reality tv isn't all that real. But this seemed "off" at times -- like bad acting).

There was a celebrity poker tournament, with celebrities I would never recognize.

One reaction to one incident. A celeb complains about the noise in their room. So they move them to a real nice suite. This was a follow up to people complaining about noise and getting food comps. Isn't this going to create more poeple complaining? Is this a new sport? Whine until a casino gives you something for free? (People are lucky that Amtrak isn't running all the casinos -- see my other post).

Seems like the show has already been sunk.
They killed the prime time and moved it to Saturday mornings only.
And they're going to broadcast each one only once instead of one new coupled with one old.
And they're not even putting the show on their website.
Don't count on another Vegas show any time soon. This one seemed to come in DOA.
I enjoyed the first two episodes just enough to program my DVR to grab the rest. I don't harbor high expectations for contrivances of this sort. But, I will probably stick with it until my shenanigan detector suggests otherwise -- or, the show is canceled.

Meanwhile, the similarly titled Vegas Strip on TruTV is in the middle of its second season. If you haven't seen it, think COPS limited to a four-mile beat. (Although, they seem to spend an inordinate amount of time in front of Planet Hollywood.)

Wow, that's bad! I didn't get to see the show, but I did find some clips of it on the Travel Channel website last week (unless they have already changed things).

But I should say that I got to the clips that they were offering by going to the Search function on the website and then typing in "Vegas Stripped."

And so even though the show may not be listed on the website with the other series that are available, at least for now, some clips of this show can be viewed.

In December. we were walking across the Ballys/Bills overpass and there were all sorts of Cops & media types there taking still shots of a couple guys with the street as a backdrop.

I guessed it was maybe for that show - got to the end of the walk by another cluster of Cops and cameras and nicely asked one of the Deputies standing around what show this was for. He kind of grumbled at me that there "was no show" or something to that effect. Translation - "get away from me".

But heading down the steps - off to the right - more Cops & cameras - and we recognized one of the main characters of the show. I believe he may be a sargent - black guy with slightly graying hair.

About the only thing of note from the encounter was that the normal cast of characters lounging around there had been replaced by men with guns!

I think it was a different show, but I also caught a show on just the intake of arrestees at the Vegas jail.
It was interesting.
There are clips of the "Vegas Strip" show (which is like COPS but just on the Strip) from TruTV on Youtube.
