Yes, thank you to all who have served our country and I wish the Jewish readers around here a very happy and healthy Shavuot!

This is actually an important and Major holiday (which involves not working) that many people actually unfortunately do not know much (if anything) about! This year it runs from tomorrow night through Monday night.

Happy Party Weekend. Our former neighbors from down south are on the way up for their first visit. Other than dealing with a 437 mph wind, we're all set for a long weekend of great local wines and food, the right amount of stupidity and getting together with friends we miss so. And the annual Indy pool.
Ken, sounds fun. How close are you to Solvang?
Keeping fingers crossed. Flight is scheduled to be on time.

Not too far at all. In fact, it feels at times we're too close to that kitschy crap!! lol

Rib night was killer, as were our evenings out at Brophy's and Food for Life Flatbread.

P.S. The brown sugar ice cream I made rocked.
sounds delish.
Used my Travelzoo certificate at Spa Mandara Paris on Tuesday. My review.

Although I was staying at PHo I chose the spa at Paris over the one at PHo because I've heard excellent things about Paris's spa and had a hard time finding info about the spa at PHo on PHo's webpage. I learned their parent company also owns bliss and the Glo spa at Tropicana. I knew I couldn't use points directly. I booked an add-on and owed $5 more than the value of the certificate. I wanted to charge the balance and gratuity to my room and learned I could only charge to my room if I was staying at Paris.

My treatment was heavenly, detox seaweed wrap followed by a back massage, and my therapist knew her stuff. I tend to judge a spa by the quality of the steam room, temperature and amount of steam and the quality of my treatment. Both were top notch. The facility is small compared to Qua and a little dated. There’s one area where one can sit and chill, an indoor hot tub, steam room, dry sauna, showers, dressing area and lockers.

Would I go back to Spa Mandara at Paris? For the same treatment, yes. Would I pay to use the facilities, steam room, sauna, etc.? No. Instead, I’d walk across the street and pay to use the facilities at Qua, much larger with better amenities.
Way cool, live stream of the Venus transit from NASA Edge @ Mauna Kea, Hawaii

A whirlwind of a day. . .
Wishing Everyone a FABULOUS weekend!
Since ken frequents this thread (and I don't post on the free side) wanted to tell Ken.......
The Husband at US Open today. He texted me at 5:48Am to say, "don't call, they don't allow phones."
Gee, thanks for waking me on Sat. morning to tell me that.

But I imagine they're having fun walking around. Been there, done that. Fun to experience whenevers.

Also..........happen to be behind THOUSANDS of Bay Area commuters on the Bay Bridge, DRIVING Thurs AM because BART shut down, due to a fire near the Oakland tracks.,
All the Transbay commuters had to find other modes of transportation to SF.......including the poor saps trying to get to the Open..........

As well as a Giants game. I ended up driving oldest Son to DT SF cuz he HAD to get to work.
OMG, Most horrible commute I can remember since the earthquake of '89.
I kept thinking...........I'd be half way to Vegas in the time it took me to drive into the city & back.

Todays a new day. Commute mo'betta. The End.
