Obama owes a huge thank you to the Tea Party

Yep the "crazy" tea party wants a "Balanced Budget"! What a noble idea!

Because everybody knows the way out of a budget defecit is cutting the amount of money coming in, correct
The Tea Party strikes me as a self-defined anachronism, or a demographic that wears its expiration date as a badge of honor.

It might be difficult to prove that Americans are getting smarter, but they are certainly becoming more cynical. When career politicians on either side of the aisle regurgitate disingenuous double-talk*, or use dog-whistle terminology, a dwindling number of people are duped -- but it appears an inordinately large number on the extreme right still are.

*Example of disingenuous double-talk: Calling under-taxed oligarchs job creators. This is like calling umbrella salesmen rainmakers.

Actually it is the exact same logic as the payroll tax cut. The concept is by limiting Federal spending you make sure there is more money in the hands of the people. More money, in theory, means more spending which means more jobs which means increased tax revenues.

One can argue this school of economic thought but if you are against a balanced budget because it means less money coming in you then must also be against the payroll tax cut for the exact same reason. Both initially, in theory, mean less money coming in but ulitmately a broader tax base.

With the top 1% paying 39% of the taxes can you really say they are under taxed?

I can. I can also spin the numbers to validate my opinion, but I'm not really looking to change anyone's mind -- or lure anyone into my left-wing rumpus room. This has all been said before.
I am not spinning numbers; these are stats from the IRS.

Another IRS stat - the bottom 47% don't pay any taxes

Our leaders SHOULD know that spending far more than you bring in DOES NOT WORK.. Makes no difference if you are a dem or rep it is simple math.

Can you run your household on a revenue negative budget?

I wasn't suggesting you were fabricating statistics -- and, I was referring to myself.

A progressive and a conservative can look at the same information (correct or fabricated) and almost always reach opposing conclusions. In face-to-face conversations, the words actually change meaning in midair. It's remarkable and unavoidable. And, speaking only for myself, it isn't a decision or a reaction. It is simply what I believe.

Here is an example my spin. You say, "the bottom 47% don't pay any taxes." I reply, "So, you're suggesting that the people who struggle every day to simply put food on the table, and statistically die sooner because they can't afford healthcare in a nation that markets wellness like a commodity ... simply aren't pulling their weight?"

Same numbers -- different perspective.
