The other story mentions 37 rapes. In a city of 1.5 million it's hard to say if that's abnormal, especially since we don't know what time period it's reported in...a day, a week, a month...several months.
But regardless it's clear there is no widespread looting. I'm sure in the aftermath of a similar disaster here or in many other countries there would be looting. It's not because of race. It's because we have more criminals. Lots of reasons for that...Culture, Values, Economic and Social Class Stratification, Education, Drug and Alcohal Abuse. I'm beginning to convince myself they're just better people than us.
It could be Alan, Asian societies have a "race first" policy. Japan is no where as bad as Korea, but the thinking does exist in certain areas of society. Foreigners, or gaijin (non Japanese) all look alike (were not short, with black hair and slanted eyes), so if one screws up, all of us get blamed.
As I stated the Japanese are no where near as bad as the Koreans. Of course no one in their right mind will ever admit this to your face. At least the Japanese have a word for us foreigners and treat us nicely.
From what I understand from the Gaijin I've talked to, Japan deals alot with whats good for society, so looting being taking of stuff for ones self is kinda against their way if thinking. (wish it were that way here sometimes)
