Denver Mayor Michael Hancock requested Occupy Denver to chose leadership to deal with city and state officials. They did. A 3-year-old Border Collie named Shelby was voted in by the group's "General Assembly" as its first official leader.

Not counting the several thousand arrests for disorderly conduct there have been over 200 incidents for drug use, rape, theft and other crimes at these squatter camps

Two hundred incidents? Wow. Take a nationwide movement that has been going or some 75 days, so its about 2.5 incidents a day, then figure there are some 50 campsites around the country with a few thousand people involved. It would appear you are safer in these squatter camps than walking thru Central Park or waiting on a Long Island Railroad platform.

Let's assume there are 2,000 people squatting in these camps. 200 incidents works out to a one in ten chance of being a victim significantly higher than Central Park or the commuter railroads. The crime rate is probably higher as a number of crimes are unreported.

Yesterday someone was shot in Oakland and a cameraman was beaten up while filming the incident.

How much longer can the media pretend that these people are not thugs

200 "incidences" could very well happen in one or two days within some of the camps. The police have been standing back, trying to let these folks express themselves, so criminal activity within the camps has been ignored to a large extent. When the not-so-happy campers insist that they should be allowed to deal with rape internally as opposed to police intervention, you have a paranoid protectionist populous that is willing to ignore and/or hide true criminal activity because it might make them all look bad. They're to stupid to realize that such actions make them look even worse.

Go spend a couple days occupying Billy. Not just hanging around for a little while or observing from a distance. Go camp out with them. I'd be very interested in seeing a TR for that!
