An odd question about room service.

I ask that my room service tray be gently balanced atop a tall stack of black $100 chips. . . unfortunately I seldom have a tall stack of black $100 chips. . . so my tray usually goes on the desk near the window.
Thanks for reading and responding to my query. I appreciate the time and effort expended. And, before gut-busting hilarity took over, I think I received enough information to glean an answer, of sorts.

The element I wasn't considering was America's favorite breakfast, lunch and dinner companion ... television. While reclining in bed, there is a clear view of the television. Okay. That makes sense.

I am as guilty of this mealtime addiction as anyone ... but primarily at home. In a hotel, I can't bring myself to handle food and the infamous hotel room remote at the same time. I'll just leave it at that. (Except to say, a friend who shares my concern once told me she slips the remote into a ziplock bag before using it. But, that's a different friend and another topic.)
to respond the other topic..
you have the ice bucket which usually has a very thin plastic bag which the room remote goes instantly (for me) b/c the maid never wipes it off and its the deadliest thing in the room as everyone uses it. Trick taught to me by CLV.... credit where credit is due.

Excellent tip. I actually need that bag for ice, but I realize that everyone doesn't. I've used Subway bags for the same function. One trip, I took latex gloves.

Hotel remotes and complementary bar pretzels. I never touch them.

Re: the question, the bed, yes for tv and yes because the bed for me is more comfortable than the chair. Sometimes I will keep on the cart and pull it up to the bed.

Re: the remote, I bring a mini pack of clorox (BLEACH!) wipes (10 in a pack) for every room I book in Vegas. (I've got a lot of double booking going on so I'm packing about 6 packs). I use one wipe for one side of the remote and then use a another wipe for the other side. I let it dry and clean a second time with a third wipe. Remaining 7 I use for the rest of the room, including the bathroom, the inside of drawers where I'm to put my clothes and the phones. Sounds involved but I've got the process down to about five minutes.

I use to spray my remotes with Lysol -- spray, sit for a minute, wipe dry and repeat -- but one time, well, that kind of temporarily messed up the remote.

When I travel for work and forget my Clorox packs, I use the CLV method, i.e., I use the ice bucket bag.
The wise Vegas visitor drowns himself in alcohol, making his very skin a disinfecting wipe.
I order Room Serv. all the time, and NEVER eat ON the bed.

Now, sitting at their rolling table on the end of the bed, in front of the tv? Yeah.
Standard procedure, unless there's a table in the room with VIEW or Tv visibility.

I can't imagine 80% of the people want their tray ON the bed? Really???

Never seen friends or family do that either.

Plus, I think its kinda creepy for a young female server to be asked to put it there.

I'd push the cart in the room, or set the tray on a table.

Let THEM move it. But she shouldn't have to!
Sounds like a lot of germ-a-phobs in here. Do you wipe down everything in the casino before playing. Just curious?
Actually, if I am going to be camped out at a favorite VP machine for a while, I do sometimes wipe/clean my machine before I play. You'd be shocked the gunk that comes off the buttons and screen with even a fast wipe. If the machine is really dirty it actually helps make the screen brighter and more clear. Sometimes it's a necessity when a person who smokes was previously there and decided to use the machine as a mini ashtray.
Put it on the table if just a tray or leave it on the rollin' table if a big meal.

(The first) Mrs Blade would eat a late night snack (fruit & cheese) in bed after getting ready for bed. I would have them leave it on the table and then after she came out of hiding in the bathroom and crawling into bed I would serve her in bed. Then put the tray outside before joining her under the covers for the night. Had a few cracker crumbs among the sheets sometimes.
