OK. Forget Magic City. How about this...

If you make in-room coffee in Vegas, do you use tap water or bottled water?

I make faux-coffee (run Tap water thru it) at least twice,
before I make In- room coffee, with my bottled water.

Thats IF there's a coffeemaker......and there's no starbucks handy.
I've never even considered the faux-coffee step. Excellent tip.

I use bottled water, unless room service is comped. In that case, I would use room service. Although, my favorite cup of coffee in Vegas is usually delivered in a glass mug by a cocktail waitress while I'm sitting at a machine.
We also run tap water thru the coffee maker, never knowing for sure what may have been run thru it last. We aren't too fussy, so we use the tap water to make our coffee.

I skip the dilemma. I drink only beer. It's free if you stand in front of a machine long enough.

Where's the damn "like" button?

We fly Southwest where bags are free and bring our own small coffee maker (and golf clubs). When in Vegas for 1 week, the cost of Starbucks each day adds up and you can "have it your way" for much less if you bring your own.

Also, Walgreen's sells a coffeemaker for $13. Not difficult to find a Walgreen's on the Strip or on Fremont Street. When you're done, just leave it behind ... it's a $13 coffeemaker.
