OT-3G Mobile Hotspot from Verizon

I'm wondering if anyone has experiece with this service feature?

In cases where an airport, hotel, etc. doesn't offer free wifi, I was wondering if this would be a reasonable cost option. They charge $20 for up to 2GB per month. I'm just not sure what this means in the real world. I don't mind spending the $20 but don't want to get caught up in additional overage fees.

The other alternative is stand alone wifi/mifi service from Sprint, Verizon, et. al. The problem is that I'm looking at $50+ a month for what I'm guessing is comparable service.

I'd appreciate whatever insight and experience that anyone can provide.

Thanks,

Dan
I have the Virgin MiFi and I use it on trips and it works great. They have an option for less thann one month also on a pay as you got basis. Sure beats hotel wifi fees!
I just bought an ipad2 with wifi and 3g service from verizon with the month to month payment plan which i can cancel whenever. The 3g service has come in handy when I am at work since we don't have wifi. At home I connect using my wireless.

The real test will be when i am on vacation and will be driving around Arizona, California, and Nevada. I will let you know what happens.

My brother has only wifi and there are times when travelling he cannot find wifi.
