President Obama's plan

He (POTUS) is so playing this political. The plan is to try and sabotage all this and make the other side look bad. You close to an agreement like last weekend and then think this may work and ask for a whole lot more in revenue.

And everyone knows Pelosi's puppet Reid included things as a cut when they would happen anyway. The CBO knows he is full of it.

Interesting to see what happens in the senate if the house plan were to make it through today. Will they actually try to compromise or just stamp there feet and say no.

"The President offered $3 in spending cuts for every $1 in tax loophole closures." - The tax increases were immediate while the cuts were unspecified and would take place several years from now.

"The President then endorsed Harry Reid's plan which has no revenue increase whatsoever AND it has more spending cuts than Weeper Boehner's plan." - Reid's plan includes decreases due to the wind down of the 3 wars which were in the original 10 year projections. Essentially reid was doing what he does best - double counting

Both parties need to sit down, suck it up and each concede some points to get a deal done.

The Tax increases most certainly were not immediate and the president was very specific that not one of them would take place until after 2012. And Reid's plan minus the war spending was still a higher savings than Weeper Boehner's plan ....and all revenue increases were taken out of it.

Despite owning the White House and the Senate the Dems have completely caved in too allowing the teabaggers dictate the philosophy of the deficit reduction. It is no longer a compromise between spending cuts and revenue increases....it is now just a question of how deep the cuts are going to be.

This thread is the perfect example of how blinded by hate conservatives are to the president.

Hello ! Your side has won this debate ! You cant even see it because you are so intent on disagreeing with everything that comes out of the president's mouth.

A true compromise is a give and take of 50-50. Republicans are going to end up with their 50 and Democrats are going to get NOTHING. But still Republicans bitch because they didn't get 100. All of the polls show the public favors the president's balanced approach over the Republican's "austerity for everyone but the rich" approach. But once again the president refuses to fight even when the overwhelming majority of the public is on his side.

PJ- I do believe that you have just started that thread. Just a couple of questions- is the "overwhelming majority" you speak of - a). the millions of illegal aliens and other leeches to the welfare, food stamp and unemployment insurance monies - or 2). the millions of hard working, tax paying, legal citizens who are footing the bill and supplying the funds that the leeches are receiving? Which majority are "on his side"?

Dr, he is on the side of those that don't want to work. Just keep giving us money. Those who feel they cannot make a decision on their own and they need him to tell them what to do. As long as they give him money he will do anything for them.

As I have posted before, Margaret Thatcher said " the only thing wrong with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money". Look around at who is footing the bill, I guarantee you it isn't the illegal aliens and the other leeches I previously alluded to. But then again, those of us who have worked for what we have and paid our way should feel sorry for those who, for whatever self imposed reasons, "don't have". If things keep going the way they are, those of us who "do have" will be joining the ranks of those who "don't have". Now there is some really screwed up "change you can believe in".
