Government jobs lost 599,000 so more jobs have been lost in the private sector under Obama
Also federal jobs pay has increased.......USA Today reporter "The number of federal employees making $150,000 or more a year has soared 10 fold in the past 5 years and doubled under Obama".......a liberal paper. not Fox Channel propoganda.

If you take even one minute to examine that claim, you'll see that most Federal job salaries were cappped at around $148,500. Under GWB, all Federal workers got a 3% pay increase in his last year in office. Thus all the folks making $148K suddenly were making over $150K.
Last year, I finished a contract to help run the 2010 census in NYC. My pay was exactly the same as it had been in 2000. Not a dime increase, dispite ten years of small inflation.
As far as I know, all Federal employees are in the midst of a two year salary freeze, even thought their health care cost have risen about 5%.

Almost all of the private sector jobs were lost in the first few months of his tenure BEFORE the stimulus package was passed. You can see the graph posted earlier to see the trend thereafter. Feel free to make the argument the trend was better before the stimulus passed. We'll try not to laugh.

So answer my question: Would employment be better in this country if we followed your leaderships prescription for economic recovery? Shut down all the banks, auto manufactures, parts manufactures, and 20% of the public workforce?

Pjstroh, how come you didnt answer the question...do we get to blame the Dems 5 years after a GOP president gets in? Obama has been the worst president of all time. IMHO

Sure. But why do you have to wait 5 years? You've been doing it since the day he took office.
Lets go thru bill & PJ's musings

"A fairly obscure member of his administration did say what you imply he said, but again- do you really want to play that game"

While he never said said it directly but rather, it comes via a Jan. 9, 2009, report called "The Job Impact of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan" from Christina Romer, chairwoman of the president's Council of Economic Advisers, and Jared Bernstein, the vice president's top economic adviser; vertainly not obscure members of the administration.

Since he never repudiated the report & it was used as a reason to pass the bill it is essentially his. By the way let's not forget owebama's quote of shovel ready jobs.

"Candidate Obama said that if drastic measures weren't taken, unemployment would hit double digits."

It did hit 10% and if the same number of people were looking for work as 3 years ago it would be substantially higher

"and 20 percent of the public work force"

Where do you get this number?

"All the neo-cons who wanted to sink all the banks, all the auto industy and downline suppliers,"

Again where do you get this stuff? The oebama spin on the auto industry takeover is that if the govt didn't step in all the auto jobs would have disappeared. Not true, as demand for cars would have still created the need for auto mfg in the US. What owebama did by taking over the 2 companies was eliminate any chance for private industry to get involved.

"The non-partisan CBO repeatedly makes this point and has demonstrated the millions of direct jobs supported by the stimulous plan"

The CBO is not non-partisan as all they did was take assumptions from owebama and run calculations. They did not pass judgement on the accuracy of those assumptions.

"As far as I know, all Federal employees are in the midst of a two year salary freeze"

Another owebama bait and switch. The freeze is on cost of living adjustments. They are still eligible for step increases which provides increases for 1.1 million federal workers.

owebama ran in 2008 on how he was going to fix the economy. Now that he has failed at that, his story is that the economy would have been worse - a statement that cannot be proven. It is liike saying if Lee didn't order Picketts Charge @ Gettysburg the South would have won the war

I really do not understand how liberals put the blinders on, Obama has failed so far. As a small business owner obama is the enemy. As a conservative person, not a Republican, I opened my eyes and realized Bush was over spending and I can admit it.
Obama "I am the 4th best president of all time"-60 minutes. lmao they edited it out.

So the President of the United States is your enemy? Please identify your business so I can be certain never to patronize it.

Hoops,
I am assuming that anything that was said by a Republican that wasn't reputed by the sitting President must therefore belong to the Pres? Is this correct?
Are you honestly blaming Obama for the recession that happened before he took office?
Bill - never said that owebama was responsible for the recession. However his economic policies have kept us stuck in the slowest post WW2 recession, created 3 years of over one trillion dollar deficits, the lowest % of employed adult americans, the highest number of people on food stamps and the most Americans living below the poverty line.
Yes Obama is an enemy of small business, and yes the economy was much better under Bush. How much power a President really has...who knows. Don't worry Bill someone like you would never be my customer.
