I don't seem to come across Mare's posts on other sites as there used to be, so maybe the gaming trips are fewer than previous. I've been a member since the mid ninties and since the forums started, many posters have come and gone. I'm sure some start raising families and the LV trips are replaced. In this economy no doubt many have had to choose between LV and eating. Others will develop other interests and vacation destinations that are more appealing to them. The reasons are many. I think a big factor is that the glitter of LV has lost it's sheen to many. The boom years of the 90s and early 2000s are gone. There isn't a new property to see every other trip. During that time I saw a lot of friends travel to Vegas that I never thought would. It seemed like the place "everyone" was going to and the constant transition was part of the draw. That boat sailed long ago and I think many others found 3-6 trips a year could drain the bank account if you spent much time in casinos.
I'll keep going because beyond really liking the town, my best friend and his wife moved down in the late 90s. I like the sun and there's plenty of golf to be had, fortunately at a decent price as Bob is in the business. The town's a little worn around the edges these days, but I still enjoy it. I can come into town and spend few days with good friends. I then move on to stay in usually two different hotels that I'm probably paying half or less that they would cost me anywhere else in the country (and I have). I'll enjoy a few excellent dinners at bargain prices, not to mention some golf on top of the line courses at good prices. In between, if I want, I can and will gamble a bit. I don't chase comps. I have no problem paying $30 for a room instead of losing $300 to get it for "free." All in all, it's still appealing and a good value for me. For others not so much.
Posters will come and go. We'll miss some of the old and enjoy some of the new. All things considered, not a bad deal, until you think otherwise!
Good Luck!
