Seems so many prolific posters have left.

They, like myself, don't need or care for their holier than thou attitudes and mean spirited comments. They seldom offer any redeeming information but come across as if they know it all. In reality, I find them to be a sorry lot.

"holier than thou and mean spirited comments"-----Pot meet kettle.
I left. I came back. I may stay or I may go. I often feel like I'm talking to myself. My trip reports were once the extent of my online writing. This has changed.

The political threads on the FFA aren't deleted simply because of subject matter, they are deleted because they go from zero to contentious in three posts. This is the current state of political interaction.

I moderate a commercial Facebook page for a friend's bar, and must occasionally remind people that it isn't a democracy and life isn't fair.

Of course former members now utilize newer social networks. Many current members do the same. I think the LVA will continue for many years as an online entity, but the future of publishing is bleak.
This is what I posted on the Other thread by this name. lol

Some people didn't renew because they are making fewer trips, learned all they needed to know,
didn't want to pay, were making a statement against Mgt. or slowness, didn't use the coupons,
yada- yada.
I went to another site, but it eventually reminded me of the FFA, and I haven't been back.
Thought they would have better Mod., but wasn't the case, IMO.

As SLOW as this site is? And by gawd its SLOW, we can only complain for so long.........

I still prefer where theres a Paid side, and alittle less unwashed masses.

I also concur. There are a few members here who wont post on a thread unless it was initiated by one of their friends. Some of the threads that are started by members of this "club" will get tons of responses from other "club members" even though it is of little interest.

I don't let this bother me. I'm just agreeing with Krisboyle and drmilled on their observations. I've been a member for 9 years and saw this a long, long, time ago.

People have been lamenting the "cliques" here as long as there's been a here. Happens everywhere. Some of our most prolific posters have refused to join other Vegas chatboards because they found them ... full of cliques.

I think it's less prevalent now. Many of the folks who moved on, recently or even four or five years ago, were also part of the many cadres of people who'd always get together when in Vegas, and even elsewhere, gambling destination or other. A good bit of that still goes on but we're not seeing multiple annual 50-member meets like in the past. And a ton of the "clique" behavior long ago moved to the Freak-For-All.

It's easy to name some names, and none of this is a mystery. Marcio? Didn't like the service, said as much, and it was suggested he take a hike. Fred? Ditto. Bard? Something similar. Mare? I think she's just busy with other things in her life. SueCasey? Still here but much less so, as she seems to have many new friends and interests in life. I took a six-month hiatus, probably will again. Dan and Barb? Happy elsewhere. Jerry? Ditto. Joan? Has much more going on in her busy life than Vegas. Penick? Haven't talked to him but he was a fixture who obviously has better things to do with his time. Etc.

All, and many others, were immensely active members. From POL banality to a glacial platform, lotta stuff drove 'em out.

You can find Jenaphir still posting on the LVA FFA Board.

While not exactly prolific - here is another one that won't be renewing

In some was LVA is a stepping stone in the road. When we first starting visiting LV, I knew nothing about comps or LVA. Getting a good deal on a travel website was as good as it got. A little way into LVA was discovered along with comps, VP programs, ect. Now that our journey has progressed a little more--LVA is not the large stone it once was. Our comps (due to VP good play), have increased greatly so the need for the inside tips and coupons has decreased.

I feel that a great many of people on the forums have walked the same path--thus leading them away from here. It is at the point now I have to weigh my options on if it is "worth it" to renew. Posters will come and go as their need for info/help changes. Once the student--then the master--then retirement so to speak.
Well put, Lt. ax 49.

I think you summarized things very well. The only thing I'd add, is that to make LVA "worth it", would be, to make the MRB better.

I know quite a few (former) members left, when the matchplays disappeared - bring 'em back!!

I think quite a few people feel the main reason to join IS the coupon book!!
I wouldn't consider myself a prolific poster at all, but I like to think I have contributed steadily over the past 8 years. I used to check this place once a day or more; not it's more like once a week.

Agreed that Westie, Ken, Gregrio, and Rec all have great stuff to share and add, so I'll always look at their posts.

Unfortunately, like nearly every other chatroom these days, a topic clearly turns into hatred and vitriol in just a few postings. Even facebook has gotten nasty, and these people are your supposed "friends."
So, I'm not here as often as I used to be mainly because so many subjects get nasty.

Just my 2 cents. not trying to be holier than thou, just explaining why I'm not on here as much anymore.
