Since when....

Went to a music event the other day. It's at a jazz club with tight seating.

Since when has it become acceptable to have a conversation while the musicians are playing? A couple behind me talked non-stop. I had to ask them twice! to stop.

And
Since when has it become acceptable to SING with the performers? This has happened a couple of times where a person near me is singing aloud. I didn't pay to hear some yahoo croak off key.

Since when did 4/20 become a holiday? A lot of people not at work. And I heard someone say, "hey, whaddaja do for 4/20?"
Where you at this jazz club with the singing and talking people on 4/20?

Because that might explain things...

"April 20, the unofficial holiday of the Marijuana enthusiast"

I've been known to sing along with performers at a concert, and notice that many people do. It's part of the fun of seeing an artist or group I enjoy, lol. But I don't carry on a conversation with my companions.

However, seeing a band in a "nightclub" setting, rather than a concert hall/arena/auditorium, is much more casual, which may explain the talking.

I go batshit crazy when some loud off key drunk fan sings at Barry's concert- always have / always will.

Shut UP I paid to hear music not you chatting or talking or sharing or singing!!!! Rudesters
SHUT UP PLEASEANDTHANKYOU

And while we're on Since when..

Since when did Good Friday become a National Holiday?
No one was in NYC- trains empty
phones dead-- we were open but 1/4 staffed---- I'm apparently a heathen granted, but what is IT you Christians DO on Good Friday that you can't do after 5pm??????

my other pet peeve is woman who chew gum on the subway w/ their mouths open---wide open making noise! Chew chew chew smack smack chew wide freaking open no shame did they not have mothers?!????? I stare at them but it does no good.

since when did people start having no shame???-- saw a woman YANK her dogs leash- poor skinny poodle- three times yank yank yank at a light-- I approached on the 4th yank and said Yo- easy on the neck, there!
Know what she said to me??? "Fuck you."
Fine. fuck me but get a more humane halter for your dog, not a collar if you can't train it to sit. sheesh...
I need a thicker skin
Good Friday is not a national holiday, JM. I believe it's up to the states. I seem to recall some years ago that Illinois decided that schools would no longer be closed on Good Friday. When I worked in an office for 33 years in Illinois, we never had Good Friday off. Some people took it as a vacation or personal day, so they'd have a 3-day weekend for Easter, but it was not a holiday.

My company had an office in New York back in the old days. The people who worked in that office always got days off that we in Illinois never did, such as Presidents Day, or Veterans Day, or whatever. The reason was that "their building was closed." LOL
For the record, was at the concert on 4/21

Since when did spitting on the sidewalk where people walk and look become acceptable? Please, find some bushes, or a street gutter!

I opened for Dusty Springfield at Mr. Smiths.
While she was on I was out front and some women were chatting - so I asked them if they would mind being quiet. When I left the club they were waiting with their boyfriends on the steps - I woke up in hospital.
Same club - Count Basie - I asked some people to be quiet - left the club and it was 8 on to 1. Manchester Clubs were tough. Now - I just move to another seat.

well it's true that Wallstreet/Stock Exchange is closed on Good Friday. That's a huge factor in NYC-

The sidewalks here are dotted w/ dark marks- I asked once -- it's old flattened dirty gum.
Tonyrob... unbelievable.
Both parts.
That someone would talk while the Count is playing.
And that someone would beat you up for asking them to be quiet.

So, the answer to "since when" might be "for some time"
