Since when....

Good Friday is a "Wall Street" Holiday and the markets are closed. This affects the businesses that do business with the financial markets. It's also pretty much a national holiday in any Christian country with most of Europe and South America on holiday, so anybody doing international business is going to have trouble conducting it's business.
TB- I'm with you.
I don't pay to hear someone on my Row, sing.
Never been better than the artist performing.

Now that you mention it..........what ever happened to Ushers telling people to be quiet?
What ever happened to ushers, for that matter?
Went way of the dodo bird?

And since I'm in a "get off my lawn" mood............what ever happend to Police giving tickets
to Loud music cars, and motorcycles with music Blaring?

ditto dog poop.. we got dog poop everywhere- bring back beat cops!!
I guess I'm a little late with this, but when you mentioned April 20th being/ not being a holiday, it never occurred to me that it was good Friday. I was thinking "Hitler's Birthday" and OF COURSE it's not a national holiday! Now I'm a little concerned that I knew it was Hitler's birthday except that a few years ago it was a big day for terrorist threats. And it seems like there was a mass murder on that date--perhaps Littleton?

4/20 was a Wednesday, it's national marijuana day.
Since when did Good Friday become a National Holiday? - Jealous?

Also NY public schools were closed all week & the Catholic schools were closed
Since when? Must be at least since the “ME” generation arrived which has been over 25 years that I know of.

We took our son to WDW when he was little and while in the American Pavilion at Epcot we encountered several foreign females seated behind us speaking loudly through the whole presentation. They evidently did not understand any of the presentation language or care about American history. They were almost shouting in Portugese and I turned and offered the librarian style finger to the lips as what I thought was a universal quiet sign. They gave me the universal middle finger sign in return.

As we exited the exhibition hall I noticed the rude huzzies having a hizzy fit as their Micky baloon that had been tied to a “borrowed” stroller floated peacefully into the Orlando sky. Some people would snatch a baby stroller that was parked outside a ride to haul their personal crap and people who needed it for their human child had a difficult time finding another one. I spied a young Disney employee who was smilling a little too much. He put his finger to his lips for a quiet sign to me and his smile grew even bigger as the baloon soared out of site; Mickey Kismet!

As for signing at musical performance: Unless the band has a bazillion jigawatt sound system, keep your yap shut and don’t even think about pulling out your cell phone.

I used to have a beautiful jade sphere with a gold band on it. Inscribed on the band was “The Golden Rule” . It would be nice if people in general could practice such a simplistic concept of courtesy and consideration. I may have lost the jade marble but I never forgot the message.

As Noahcat mentioned, the stock markets are always closed on Good Friday.
As for singing at concerts - I agree that it is REALLY ANNOYING and rude. Who pays concert $$ to listen to someone in the audience sing? Of course, the louder the band the less it matters, but the band/singer is the attraction, not someone else in the audience.

...however, I wouldn't mind Sue Casey singing...

;-)

The worst experience I had at a rock concert was at a Joe Walsh concert, where the guy in front of us screamed non-stop and was mad that nobody would scream along with him. Not even an attempt at carrying a tune, just screaming.
The worst experience I had at a classical concert was at a performance of Bruckner's symphony #8, where the lady next to me fell asleep immediately and snored non-stop thru the whole concert. Back then I just sat there and seethed. Now that I'm older I'd probably wake her up and tell her to stop snoring. Her husband just ignored her.
You obviously haven't heard me sing, Steve. LOL

The kinds of shows where I sing along are the ones where the artist encourages the audience to clap and sing along. This happened at the Eddy Raven show at Aliante, and at some other locals shows I've been to. I do NOT make noise if an orchestra is playing or during a ballet, for example.
I have a since when...

Since when did "Cali" become such a popular verbal abbreviation? It isn't so much that I find it irritating (and I do) but, apparently, it is pervasive and -- many would claim -- traditional. Really? How did I miss that? Because, when I hear it now, I just yell at my television. (Assuming that's where I heard it. When someone says it in person, I reply, "Do you mean Santiago de Cali?")

Of course, I haven't been to California since the 70s, but "Cali" strikes me as one of those tourist affectations (like Frisco) that would drive locals crazy.
