Southern Ohio--roll call

I having been noticing more and more tag lines with locations here in Southern Ohio and was getting curious/nosy how many of LVA members are in the area (Dayton/Cincy).

We are in Wilmington--half way between Dayton and Cincy.

Roll call for worthless nuts. We be Buckeyes. I live in Kettering and lived on Wilmington Pike for a number of years. I have a cousin living in Wilmington, actually Port William; Wilmington is the biggest and closest to her.

I'm in Centerville but only 2 blocks from being in Kettering My husband and I even met George & his lovely wife Becky for dinner one night. We occasionally make it down to one of the boats on the Ohio River but maybe only 1 or 2 times a year. My husband plays pool in a tournament out in Vegas once a year so that's our only trip there. But I still love it and enjoy getting info from many others here on the message boards! Yes, there are quite a # of us Buckeyes here on the LVA message board.
I grew up in kettering and my mom still lives there. Right off far hills ave across from fairmont west high(I know its the old name,i forget the new name). Getting hungry as I typing now that im thinking of it,could really go for a marions pizza right now, mmmmmmmmmmmYUM!. Marions is always a must do first thing to do when we get in town. Pine club steaks are also a must do as is a trip to kings island.

George--I know exactly where Port William is--I think I know about half of the people who live there. It is such a big town you know.

Oh yes, John, Marion pizza. My Mom use to live off Alex Bell (across from the old Gold Circle) and when when we came to visit her we got pizza from Marion's.

There is so many good food places assicated with southern OH==Skyline Chili, Gold Star, Montgomery BBQ, not to mention the little mom & pop places still around the small towns.--George have you tried the one just outside Port William, there is a reason the parking lot is always full.

John, my brother & family are here visiting from Maryland. Guess where we ate last night? MARION'S PIAZZA!! My brother always makes it a point to eat there at least once, if not twice when home for a visit

Other things friends/family miss when they move away from Dayton are Mike-Sells potato chiips and Esther Price candy (my mom taught me well - that it's the ONLY candy there is!). And what about the Old Hickory Bar-B-Que! Love those ribs! Dominic's was always a popular place but now torn down (property bought by Miami Valley Hosp).
Not from Southern Ohio but live in Ashland. We try to get to Cincinnati every year or so to see the Reds play and now that Kings Island is included with our Cedar Point passes hoping to make a weekend out of it. Has any one been to Kings Island for the Halloween weekends and what did you think?
At Christmas time this year we went to Missouri to visit our son, DIL and new granddaughter. I was sitting in their living room holding the baby and I looked on the wall over their TV was a Marion’s Pizza box hanging like a classic art piece. It was a clean box they had picked up while at a friend’s wedding rehearsal dinner. He said it reminds them of home.

My HS 45 year reunion is this summer and they are having the informal gathering at … Marion’s Pizza.

Our DIL has addicted her student employees to Mike Sells potato chips. These Missouri kids request a sack full every time they know she is coming to Ohio.

Pam- My Mother used to ship mass quantities of Ester Price candies all over the country to friends who had visited them and tasted those chocolate delights.

Lt. ax49 – I was last in Wilmington this winter for the funeral of my cousin’s husband. He is the one who had a hog farm in Port William. We never visited much because hogs never seemed much of an attraction.

Darcie3- Halloween is to my son as Christmas is to most. He would go to King’s Island Horror Fest as often as he could. He seemed to have more negative to say about the people attending the event rather than the attractions.
