Suggestions for an inexpensive All in one Printer??

I have been using a Canon MX310 print/scan and fax unit for the past 3 years. I went to adjust the plug in and the unit fell off of the stand and is now history. The unit worked well and the cost was $100.00. I was not happy with the cost of ink refills and am hoping to get an inexpensive unit that will use 2 cartridges ( 1 color and one B&W) that I can refill at Costco or a similar venue. I have picked up a HP 4500 at Costco and it is unacceptable in that it prints way to slowly. I do quite a bit of scanning of information for my work and while I can scan for now I want a unit I will be happier with, suggestions appreciated. Thanks in advance. Jazzlover
PS I forgot to mention that I use a MAC .

Doesn't really matter much nowadays. Just about any USB, Firewire, or Wireless printer worth its salt will work fine with a Mac.

If I were to buy a printer again--and I might one day soon--I'd probably just shell out the big bucks for a laser printer and be done with it. More money upfront than inkjet, but cheaper costs per-print and faster too.

I can’t speak to the best but I can give input on one I purchased. I got the Kodak with wifi. The ink is cheap and the wifi works well. The rest of the unit I would not recommend due to plastic ill-fitting parts that jam up unless monitored constantly. Just months after we got this unit it quit printing properly. I had to call “Peggy” numerous times before he sent some new parts to get the unit functioning again.
Love, Love, Love my HP Officejet J6450 all in one, wifi enabled. No jamming, fairly inexpensive ink cartridges (as far as ink prices go) Extremely clear, concise colors; easy set up of other home network computers for easy print capability of mulitple computers, in different areas of the house...all wireless.

Good Luck in your search

I have an HP Officejet J4680 all in one and previously used an older HP all in one printer. Both take 2 cartridges. If you have a Staples near you, they will give you $2 in rewards for each cartridge you bring in for recycling.
A couple of years ago, I bought a cheaper HP laser P1005 (no color) since I do a lot of B&W printing. It can print at least 1500 copies before refill. I think it prints about 20 copies a minute. I occasionally use my other ink jet color printer/scanner. The printing is slow, but the quality is better.
I'm sold on HP. I've used their laser printers at work and the ink jets at home for twenty years. I currently have an Officejet 6500 all-in-one, which retails for about a buck-fifty. It has everything I need (including OCR) and many things I don't (like fax capability).

If you require fewer bells and whistles, you can get an HP Officejet 4500 for about $60.

My only other suggestion is: Extended warranty? Just say no.

Good point. I agree.
