Viva Laughlin!

I really enjoy Laughlin. Love driving the old route 66, enjoy the river and the local bars. Its a great getaway for a few days.
I will be there in 2 days!! We are staying at Harrahs also. Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. I am so looking forward to 90 degree weather!!! I will be out by the pool!! We will then head back up to Vegas for 2 nights at the Golden Nugget but it doesn't look to be AS warm as in Laughlin, but will still go to the Nugget's pool, LOL!

Just back from a 4-nite junket to Harrah's Laughlin---we really like it. Our 5th trip out there, I think. Now if you like the Strip and all of the glitz and glamour, the "spa"-life, the club life---then it's probably not for you. It is laid-back, quiet, calm, and, well, shall we say the average age is well about Social Security age. But the VP is decent, food is cheap, all of the casinos are within walking distance (Harrah's might be an exception for some--but we walked it every day, twice, and it took us 15 min exactly to reach the first casino on the river). Wife likes the chance to play bingo (Riverside or River Palms) if the mood hits. I find acceptable VP at almost every casino. On the way home, wife mentioned that she may like Laughlin better than LV.
Beware of the family of skunks that live under the bridge on the riverwalk between Aquarius and the Edgewater. We walked straight into them on the way back to our room at night. We were about 10 feet away before we noticed them.

The daddy just looked at us a little cautiously but then went on his way with mom and the little ones. They didn't seem too worried about us and that was good. Cocktail service would have been hard to come by covered in skunk juice.
Are you sure they were skunks, and not raccoons? I've never seen a skunk in Laughlin and never seen a family of skunks anywhere.
There are more and more raccoons each year along the riverwalk.

Positive. Apparrently they are well known and quite the attraction. Another passer-by said they have been there for over a year. They live in the drain pipe thats under the bridge.

Looks like others have caught one of them on film:
