Pl- apparently the real facts of the state of our nation you find laughable. Remember this as time exposes, even to you, the end result of your socialist president. I can actually envision you standing alongside the road, sign in hand stating "hungry, no job, no social security, Potus screwed me".

I certainly find you funny.

The overwhelming majority of people recognize things are much better today than at the peak of the recession....and getting better each month. And when the recovery is finally complete Obama and The Dems will get all the credit because the GOP had to be dragged kicking and screaming the whole way...all the while crying about food stamps and birth certificates and abortiion laws.

The concept of things are getting better is a function of the Obama media (Time mag is a good example). In addition to the stats I presented earlier here is some more.

If the adult participation rate was the same as in December 08, the unemployment rate would be over 10%. Food stamp recipients are at an all time high and the number of people living below the poverty line are at an all time high

People like you who advocate getting rid of the minimum wage don't carry much weight in the argument of poverty and food stamps. As for employment, I learned in 3rd grade Math that 11% is a bigger numer than 8%... So I've come to the bold prediction things are getting better. Hoops must have had a different 3rd grade Math teacher.

Ps...the last time we had 7.9 unemployment was the 2008 presidential campaign. The republican campaign in that race told us that rate wasn't so bad and we had become a nation of whiners for complaining about it....and Hoops was so outraged by that disposition that....he voted for that candidate.
Me so horny, Me so horny. Me love you long time baby............

No suprise as time magazine functions as one of the obama newsletters; the former newsweek magazine being another

It makes me proud that I have never spent a nickel on that worthless rag. They should just give to Obama every year. It wouldn't affect me at all and they could sell at least 20 to Chilcoot.

Funny - thats exactly what the president has to deal with in the House of Reps too.

I seem to remember a lot of Wah! Wah! Wah! in 2004.

LOL at all the people here STILL whining about taxes. God forbid we ask the millionaires to pay more. and the tea party morons couldn't even agree on that.

If you look at every other Western country in the world, their rates are all significantly higher. So everybody quit yer bitchin and suck it up a little.

TSR, who would you want TIME to name? Romney?

How about Vicky Soto who died while trying to save children in Newtown?

Oops, I may have overstated Obama's popularity. Gallup has him at only 56% favorable, 37% unfavorable.

Still, pretty dang good.

For comparison, here's Gallup's look at his predecessor's awful ratings. His name was George W. Bush, and as you can imagine he's been forced into hiding.

I have no doubt that his approval rating is that high considering that we are now in a Style over Substance society. He has a very high Cool factor. It wouldn't surprise me if the Democrats could get someone from Jersey Shore (or whatever is popular at the moment) elected president.

Hail President Situation!

I nominate Terry as man of the year 2013. Certainly he's no worse than Bush, who won it twice.

[O]ur corporation taxes are among the highest in the world.
Time for today's game of "I Don't Care What's True, I'm Going to Spew Wrong Stuff Anyhow!" Today's contestant is rdwoodpecker.

Here's what's true:

While the U.S. has a high statutory corporate tax rate (meaning the rate on paper), U.S. corporations actually pay incredibly low taxes due to the ever-proliferating loopholes, credits, and deductions in the tax code and the use of overseas tax havens, things competitor nations simply don't allow.

In other words, we start from a high rate, then give so many corporate breaks that companies can whittle their exposure down to among the lowest rates in the world.

U.S. corporate taxes that were actually paid (the effective rate) fell to a 40 year low of 12.1 percent in fiscal year 2011, despite corporate profits rebounding to their pre-Great Recession heights.

Now observe as our contestant ignores what's true and spews wrong stuff anyhow!

Not every corporation in this country "Is now using overseas tax havens" Do multi-national companies have the ability to do this? Probably so. Most US corporations do not have multiple accountants sheltering every dime they make! Many of our "corporations" are mom and pop operations that pay the effective rate that is fairly high!
Pj the only reason why it is 7.8 and not 11 is due to number semantics. I would gladly trade president Bush's average unemployment rate of 6% over obama' s average of over 8.5%.

Anyway Merry Christmas

problem now is how to we get the "underemployed and unemployed" back to where it is for their own good to have a job? Way too many folks have got comfortable sitting on there ass all day and living off those who do work.
This country has 10's of thousands who work for very low wages and can not make ends meet. We need to try and reward them for the simple fact that they have a JOB. Many against a living wage but when one makes as much money sitting home watching tv than those who are holding 2 jobs and still struggle is just not right!
This will be the task that faces Obama and every state in the country
