TIME magazine really?

I have tried to stay out of this thread, since no one's mind will be changed, but . . .

I AM A Business owner, and I have prepared thousands of corporate tax returns over the last 40 years or so. Chilcoot is totally correct in that almost no one pays the stated corporate rates, so even though our top corp rate is 35%, almost no one actually pays that. Frankly, the small businesses that you all are trying so hard to protect are usually S Corporations and pay zero taxes at the corporate level. The increase in tax rates will have zero impact on small business owners, and will certainly have no impact on job creation by them.

The right wingers here and in the radio/tv entertainment complex love to spout nasty commentary and even they don't believe what they are saying, they are just trying to sell books to Dr Milled and Mr Woodpecker, and others like them. It's really funny that a president who is pretty middle of the road is considered socialist - I guess because he thinks health issues shouldn't bankrupt anyone in this country. No matter how many names you may call him, I think the real scumbags (apparently a favorite term around here) are the business owners who are already trying to bend the rules to get out of covering employees healthcare and other fringes.

I'm not happy about the deficit either, but as a peace loving American, I think we could probably balance the budget by cutting all military spending until the budget balances. There is a reason we are hated in many parts of the world, and it's mostly because we stuck our noses in where they didn't belong.

I can't imagine a better award winner for Time magazine, Thank God for our President. God bless you all and God bless America. Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!!

Thank you Roy, well stated, you found ways to convey something I meant to but failed at, obviously, I hope they listen.
Now Drmilled responds in 5-4-3-2-1 ...
"It's really funny that a president who is pretty middle of the road is considered socialist"

If you are talking about President Obama, you really need to get out more often.

I thought I had heard and read it all until roycpa posted his viewpoints. Cutting all military spending is the most ignorant thing I have ever heard. I agree we have stuck our noses where they did not belong, by and large that was an end result of the bleeding heart mentality that has put our nation in jeopardy. Freeloading illegal aliens, welfare and unemployment fund abusers, foreign aid to nations that hate us- if you want to cut and balance the budget then get the freeloaders off of the welfare and unemployment gravy trains and take all of the foreign aid monies and use those funds for real Americans. Get America financially healthy and then rethink foreign aid. We as Americans should have our tax dollars spent by and for the taxpayers.
Actually Ellen, it was 3-2-1.
Roy, you are kidding yourself if you think the President is not a socialist, Bush was a border-line socialist . IMO If this is the new way of thinking, I really have no idea why I am working. I guess stealing money from future generations is the norm now! Roy also as an S-Corp myself have you not noticed how much our wages have gone down under this President. Or is just myself and all my other business friends, that have felt this pain?
I really do wish I worked for the government, if someone told me this is what it would be liketoday 20 years ago I never would have started a business!!!!!when I first started I worked harder than 10 government workers combined, and yes, I made more money than most. Today is a different USA. you are a fool to start a business in todays world. Kids jump on this government band-wagon you would be a fool not to!

As I said earlier, no one's mind will ever be changed by this thread, whether fact or fiction. I don't really want to cut ALL military spending - just enough to balance the budget. It's supposed to be for defense - not to prop up our supposed friends and for our leaders entertainment (Pres. Bush).

Somehow you think think freeloading illegal aliens are causing our financial mess, when in fact most of them are very hard working and doing jobs that many Americans won't do for twice the pay. By their actions they act more "American" than most of the people I know.

MISSED POINT! Not surprised. What he is talking about is the generational welfare we have in this country! He mentions cutting foreign aid to countries that we hand out in the billions! Does not mention illegal aliens draining our welfare state! Hell if they are in this country they are WORKING!

Sorry - hit the send button too soon. Unfortunately there are abuses in any system - our current one and all the ones we've had before. I don't think anyone would argue that abuses need curbing - we've been trying to do that for hundreds of years.

I hope you didn't really mean what you said above "use those funds for real Americans", because if you did mean it you aren't a real American yourself. "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to be free. . . . "

I might actually agree with you about lots of our foreign aid - it's simply an adjunct to our military spending.
