Today In Bama World

"Maybe he should be more like bush and run around the world starting more unfunded wars?"

When it comes to spending nobody tops the bama

Under bama we had a $900b stimulus bill that was supposed to keep unemployment under 8% - instead we have the lowest % of employed adults in history. People have been out of work so long they have dropped out of the work force

In Feb we ran the largest defict ever

At the end of 4 years he will have run up the highest govt deficit in the history of the world - about $6,000 billion dollars

And, for those who wish to see the whole picture on private sector jobs lost and gained since 2000 which presents a rather interesting picture:
https://www.bls.gov/news.release/cewbd.t01.htm

Of course this is the official United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics site so am sure one side or the other will have an issue
Wow marcr, thanks for the link. Bookmarked!!!

Here is what I learned:

Private sector jobs as of 12/2000 8,351,000
Private sector jobs as of 12/2008 6,720,000
Net jobs lost: 1,631,000 under eight years of President George W. Bush

Private employment as of 12/2008 6,720,000
Private employment as of 6/2010 6,935,000 (the last reporting period on your chart)
Net jobs created: 215,000 through 6/2010 under President Barack Obama

If I had made the comparison starting with the first or second quarters of each presidents first term, it would have made Obama look that much better than Bush. But I don't like to brag.

Jeff - with all of my above mentioned comments on the country's problems I think he can spend his time better.

And you will always think that, no matter what he does, won't you?

He could've turned down the request to spend 25 minutes addressing the topic of bullying, opting to work on one of the topics you list, and you would've bitched about that instead.

You'd probably have written something along the lines of "I guess Obama's too busy worrying about some debt crisis way over in Europe to address the problems of America's youth right here in his own backyard!"

Nothing he does will ever please you, let's face it. You could really save yourself a lot of time and typing if you just made a post every week or so that simply read "I just plain don't like Obama. The End."

You'd probably have written something along the lines of "I guess Obama's too busy worrying about some debt crisis way over in Europe to address the problems of America's youth right here in his own backyard!" - The European debt crisis was one of the factors in the 2% decline in the market yesterday. It was also the driving force last year when the market took a dive. Defaulting govts that are our allies is a serious problem. The world's economies will never collapse & oil prices will never be affected over child bullying. Also the debt crisis is also here with our largest monthly deficit in Feb.

"Nothing he does will ever please you, let's face it. You could really save yourself a lot of time and typing if you just made a post every week or so that simply read "I just plain don't like Obama. The End." - I don't dislike him I just think he is incompetent. M. Carlson in the Washington Post wrote last week an article entitled Where's Waldo about the same issue of him missing on key issues but is front and center on meaningless photo ops.

"You could really save yourself a lot of time and typing if you just made a post every week or so that simply read" - Much like the posts made by many here over the years over President Bush .

It's ok Jeff, I still think you are good guy though

Thank you for the compliment Mr Forkush but dont believe you are reading the chart correctly.

The first total is the number of new jobs created that quarter. The second total is the number of new job losses that quarter. One starts over each quarter.

This chart compares gross jobs gained by expanding and new establishments that quarter with jobs lost through contraction or closing of private establishments.

To get the total jobs created or lost during the Bush administration you need to add up the net change column and the same for the Obama administration.

So, for example, for the 6 quarters of President Obama's administration the net change in the private sector was a loss of over 5 million jobs as an example.

This does a much better job of explaining.

Well in that case - never mind. And I should have noticed that the total numbers were too small!

Here's an easier chart from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. When Bush became president, there were 111,634,000 private sector jobs. When he left office there were 110,981,000 private sector jobs, for a net loss of 653,000 jobs during his eight year term. Even if 2011 and 2012 are as horrible as 2010, Obama will be on schedule to surpass the miserable failure's record for private sector job creation.

Bush did not start wars with muslim extremists. They have been at war with us for hundreds of years. Thomas Jefferson was the first president to confront them ( Marine Battle Hymn... From the halls of Montezuma, to the shores of TRIPOLI). He even had a copy of the koran so he could "know the enemy"

Obama can not even use the words muslim and terrorist in the same sentence.

Two US Airmen were gunned down last week by a muslim screaming allah akbar.

What has been Obama's response?

<insert sounds of crickets here>

Nope, not in the math for this anyway. If 2011, and 2012 are as horrible as 2010, Obama's overall job creation "success" will be better than Bush's.

But he did lie to start the war in Iraq.
