True unemployment and underemployed

now stands at 14.8 percent! Yikes they don't seem to reveal the "real" number very often.

"disclaimer" This is not meant as a Political post blaming anyone or any group. Just shows how bad the economy really is.

Who is "they"? Who has failed to report this information frequently enough for you?

And why do you consider this number "real"? Are there unreal numbers "they" are reporting?

You're right that our economy is not what we want it to be. However, if the unemployed/underemployed rate is currently at 14.8 percent as you claim, it's gone down 27.5 percent since April 2010.

Down 27.5 percent in just over two years is a lot, dontcha think? So there's some good economic news to make you smile!

Just wondering who was supposed to "change" things for the past 3 1/2 years ???

Rick
I am sure that those who have joined the current ranks of the massive unemployed since the "change you can believe in" regime took over are" smiling".

I heard the unemployment rate was up to 75 or 80 percent, but I don't recall the source off the top of my head.

Disclaimer: I don't read Finnish, but this may be political, I'm not sure. If it is, I apologize.

En ole varma miksi tämä ei ole selvää muille, mutta näen iso muutos oli 3,5 vuotta sitten.

Perhaps PMSNBC ?

I was not aware that the government that reports the unemployment at 8.2% is only for the past 4 weeks. I was not sure what time frame that they used to report. The "real" number was the folks who supposedly are still actively seeking employment or can not get enough hours each week.
THey seem to choose to reveal a number that is not a "real" number. I would suppose that it is the same way the have "figured" the unemployment forever. But it appears that the "data" they choose to use is a bit misleading.
Yes, the unemployment figure is for the past calendar month. In this case, the unchanged 8.2% figure announced today was for June 2012.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics has used the same method of calculating unemployment since 1994. It's the standard number, don't know if that makes it "real" to you or not.

You seem interested in the figure for discouraged workers. If you look at that BLS link, you'll be pleased to learn that June's discouraged workers figure fell 16.4% from a year ago.

So far, so good in not turning this political, sticking to the facts, good and bad.
