A Very Sad Dog Story

If stories with sad endings upset you please dont read any further.

As many of you know Cathy and I volunteer with Golden Retrienver Rescue of Mid Florida. Recently our group took in a sweet older Golden who had been dumped in a field. Her story is here, you may want to scroll down and read the initial story in the link first:

My heart is broken over this. Dumping a wonderful older dog in a field to die in the heat, humidity and rain, not to mention the insects, is incredible to me. Please, at the end, they deserve a death with dignity. Vets usually have inexpensive plans for euthanasia. If you cant afford it then at least take it to the local animal shelter. For 10 years she was a loyal companion to someone. She deserved better.

Yeah, its sad. Dogs have feelings. On top of the physical abuse is the fact the dog knows she was abandoned by the people she thought were her family.... which probably caused just as much stress.

Some people are dicks.

If they sent their 10 yr old pet to that fate I sure hope they don't have children.

There is just no excuse for such cruelty. It's hard to comprehend.

Thanks to the GRRCF for making Dory's final days a little more tolerable.

This is sad...people will throw their dogs away like trash. I have a health food store for dogs in Canada and I hear such terrible stories of abuse. Dogs are about the same as a 2 year old child and it hardly seems fare. Their such a gift, teaching most of us to be better humans. Wrong on all levels.

I'm a vet tech and see enough of this kind of thing to make me question the human race. It's hard to comprehend such cruelty.

you and your group are blessings for all of the dogs that come thru your 'doors' -- but there are certain dogs that you become angels on earth.

thanks for your work. you do make a difference though i know you wonder about that at times.

ps -- i'm actually contemplating a gingerlead for one of my old girls. this story is a good selling point on the type of company they are!
