If my luck has turned sour, I avoid returning to a machine that previously paid off. It just feels like desperation, which invites more bad luck. (Although, I will eagerly revisit "lucky" machines from a previous trip.) I occasionally carry good luck charms (old coins and slot tokens, matchbooks from casinos like the Mint or Silver Slipper, etc). I don't really believe these things will change my luck -- but they're very cool.
I think my only non-gambling superstition is "hat on the bed." (Never. Never ever .. although, I've had an open umbrella in my apartment for five years.)
Wait. One more. I never participate in a toast if my glass is empty or contains no alcohol. Someone once told me this is bad luck, and for some reason, it stuck.
