What is your favorite brand of bottled Marinara Sauce?

.
I have a favorite and it is Rao's Marinara Sauce. I have a friend that has a great pizza restaurant here in Las Vegas. He is one fantastic cook and knows his food. He said that from a JAH ( Boston accent for jar) nothing beats Rao's. I overcame my resistance of the higher price and figured that if I can place money into a Video Poker Machine I could shell out $8.99 for a bottle of Marinara. After giving it a try I ordered a case . It has been my Marinara of choice for the past few years. Whole foods had it at $5.99 per 32 oz bottle last weekend and I stocked up. Can I cook up a good version and can any of the other readers do the same>>>>>>>Sure and I have no doubt but that is not the question.......
paul newman. it's good, and they donate profits to charity.
Agree with Raos.
Hmmm, interesting to note then, I might have to give it a whirl because there's no way in he!! I would ever spend the money on a jar of sauce w/o a recommendation. I alway's thought it would be a good idea for the store to put out tastes of the more expensive sauces because who in there right mind is gonna spend 7-10 bucks to try a jar of sauce? I've always wanted to try them but I'm not gonna start trying them willy nilly.

In all honesty I make a pretty good tomato gravy and I use traditional ragu for a base and build on that, it does turn out well.

Thx for the heads up on RAO's!
